I was told hes pure pom. But obviously he isn't. Hes approx. 14lbs-16lbs. When he barks, he sounds like a german shephard..

When he was 4months old

He was real fine last night today he seems to have no energy. Last night he ate some week old turkey lunch meat and some pistachios. I called the vet and she said as long as he is drinking he should be ok. I feel as if I should be doing more. He does not seem to be getting any worse. His fever comes and it goes. His nose is cold his tounge and gums look normal. His ears seem cold. He has no desire for food. The only thing I notice is he has sleepers below his eye.

My mom and I are going out of the country. Usually when we go on trips we take the dog with us (to not burden anybody else), but since we're going out of the country we can't do that. I hate to say it, but I've spoiled her majorly. We've had her since she was a pup (and she is 3 years old now) and she is very attached to me. For example, when I leave she usually sits by the door until I get home.

A year or so ago we tried to leave her with my uncle (he also has dogs, and I figured they could play while we were away). It didn't work out. Apparently she pouted the entire time, and would search the house looking for us. She would scratch or howl at doors that were closed and wouldn't stop until somebody opened them and then she would proceed to look around the room searching. I had done everything I could to make her feel more comfortable...brought her bowls, bed and toys from home. Gave her lots of bones (she loves to chew on them) and brought her regular food and snacks from home. None of it seemed to work. Any more ideas? I'm thinking that this time we can make a few trips before hand to my uncles house and leave her there for a few hours and then come back to get her...maybe that will let her know that I'll always come back for her? I'm lost as to what else to do...

lol, this question sounds sort of pathetic. But, I got my dog after my dad died and she helped me through it...giving all my attention to her helped me not to dwell so much on what had happened. So, thanks for the help :-) I appreciate it. Oh, and if it helps to know her breed she is a beagle/basset hound. Thanks again.

I have two dogs who are not fixed yet... a year old female puggle and a 6 month old male beagle. My beagle recently learned how to "fornicate for a better use of a word with my girl puppy. She has been on her period for a week, possibly longer. My question is: can my girl puppy get pregnant while on her period and by a 6 month old puppy?

my two chihuahuas are 5 years old and have had them since 2 months old. they are very healthy, very energetic and not sick at all.

but i am worried that if they have heart worms or stomach worms that they might drop dead so i am paranoid. they have never been given any worm medication before.

should i just give them the medication even though they are healthy, just in case?

I adopted a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel from a local shelter who had a strange complication from his neutering surgery. Blood drained back into the scrotal area and he had a baseball-sized mass hanging between his legs. The vet said that this occurs occassionally and that the blood would be reabsorbed back into the body in about 10 days. However, even with an e-collar, the dog managed to irritate the area enough to cause it to open up and drain. He spent 10 days at the vet on antibiotics and painkillers until he healed. The vet could not have been more kind; he was very apologetic and charged me only for the meds (I'd already paid $ 300.00 for the initial surgery, innoculations, etc. and a $ 200.00 visit to the ER vet in the middle of the night.) I've shared my journey with some amazing pets over the years, all of them altered OF COURSE, but have never heard of this type of complication. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of this before? Vet techs - is this common?

Ok, I don't want to hear "Easily corrected by rewarding good behavior" as that hasn't helped at all... What am I supposed to do? Go "good doggie" for NOT chewing up a plant??

Problems:
1) Digging under fence. I've buried rocks, stopped for a bit, but has started again. He does it in the middle of the night, and not every night, is there any way to stop without building some new fence or a midnight stakeout?? He knows that he shouldn't have dug out because when I find him outside in the mornings in the wrong spot, he acts guilty...
2) I have a garden fenced off by an electric wire, which he conveniently hops over. He also does this only at night, how to stop?

Maybe there is no solution whatsoever to these besides building new fences etc and wasting money, but I figured I'd post to see if anyone had some brilliant ideas =)

Oh, I was considering buying a shock collar? As verbal discipline has no affect, comments on this (besides, "oh no, thats cruel)?
