Dog has had chronic diarrhea for last 2-1/2 months since eating cat food, possibly spoiled. Negative test results for parasites. Was controlled, but not cured, with antibiotics and bland diet but problem returned once rice diet was reduced. Has now been put back on the antibiotics and rice/chicken diet and vet says she can be vaccinated in 2 weeks once the meds have again controlled the diarrhea. Vet says she may end up on these antibiotics long term. He does not know yet what is wrong with her. She had her rabies shot 4 months ago but not the 1-year booster yet. Do you think its okay to go ahead and vaccinate?

Talking to the neighbor didn't help. They allow the dog to run free. It likes to jump on you and nip at you. It even put a hole in my daughter's skirt. The dog is in my yard everyday. I even found poop in my yard next to my front porch. The dog aggravates my dog and my kids. It almost got hit by the cars that drive down the street. The problem is we live right outside the city limits so the dog pound wont come and get it. What else can I do? Everytime I come outside my house, I have to shoo the dog out of my yard and it's so annoying.

I got these 3 mixed labs from an aunt for free. As it turns out, they are very sickly. One became hospitalized and the 3 had bad stomachs. After a few weeks, I thought that they were healthy again. But then I noticed the 2 were getting skinnier.... I was planning to take them to the vet tomorrow b'cos there's no vet today. Then one of my puppy was screaming, I saw that his left front paw was involuntarily moving, is this a sign of seizure or not? If not, what is this? How can I lessen the pain? By the way, I've noticed this with another puppy. Her front paw is involuntary moving too but it's still not as worse as the other. Is this infectious b'cos the 3rd puppy has no sign of it yet. I'm afraid she might catch it as well. Help pls I'm worried about them.

I am looking to buy a pomeranian puppy. Does anyone have any experiences, warnings, information, etc., I should know about them before I get one? Also, do they bark a lot? if so, can they be trained well? Thanks!

I have a 4year old Jack Russell X and we are trying to train him to be more of an out doors dog, but every time he is outside, he yelps, wines, screams and barks really loudly and at a high pitch. This can seriously go on all day, for hours on end. Our other dog, just gives up after a while and shuts up, but he continues regardless. On advice, we try to completely ignore him, not saying anything, or giving him any attention, but he still does it. We keep getting told, we have to be patient and give it time, but we have neighbours. Is there a way we can speed up the process, so not to annoy the neighbours? I am worried they will hate us (which i dont blame them for really. He is VERY annoying!)

Ok, there are 5 ppl in my family. Mom, dad, bro, sis and me. The youngest is 7 and the oldest is 15. We have a dog, who is 2 years old. He is a 10 lb fully grown dog from france. We think we are finally ready for a second dog, however we dont know which kind to choose. Our current puppy is a swetie pie, and will get along with any breed. We want along the lines of a bigger dog, because the dog we have now is as small as a loaf of bread! Mabye like a labrodor. We have about 10 fenced acres, so space will not be a problem for the dog. We would like a sweet dog, so a dog bred to fight will not do! Any suggestions as to which breed we should get would be greatly appriciated!! Thx so much!

We just got a puppy from someone who bought it from a breeder of poodles and cocker spaniels. she didn't wnat it anymore- didn't realize it was work- and was planning to give it to the shelter. Well, we are, beilive it or not, debating wether or not to fix him. Our friend, who has a dog from the same breeder, almost same age but from another *****'s litter, told us that we shouldn't so that our two dogs an mate and have cute pups. I said that we should becasue there is an overpopulation of dogs but then she told us that since our dogs came from a champion bloodline of a pure bred cocker spaniel and pure breed poodle then they shouldn't be fixed and should have pups.

the thing is, cockapoos aren't recognized by the AKC so...?

I can't beilive that im debating wether or not to fix my pup- I just need someone who knows about this stuff to back me up, Thanks!

I bought a 6 m/o great dane puppy, July 17 from a lady in the classifieds (TX)
We brought her home, but a couple things I noticed were strange. Her temp. was high, all she did was sleep & didn't eat.
I just thought it was because she needed to get used to her new home.
August 1, I had to take her to the vet b/c she was extremely skinny & she was not coming out of the closet, all she wanted to do was lie in a place where no one could find her.
I called the lady, she was very rude to me after I told her about the situation.
I took her to the vet, he said he would keep her til Friday and run some tests on her.
Went to the vet yesterday to find out that my puppy had died from parvo & an extreme case of hook worms.
I am still really sad but at the same time angry that someone would sell me a sick dog.
What should I do?! I have called the lady 3 more times now but she ignores my calls.
My dad told me to take her to small claims court but what kind of proof do I need?
PLEASE HELP!

My dog is a dachsund/ cocker spaniel mix that we adopted for my birthday last year. She is really whiny, and gets upset if you don't pay enough attention to her. Whenever I try to pick her up or even get within 3 or 4 feet of her she either growls or runs away. She always follows my mom around the house wherever she goes (I don't know why), but I want her to like me because she's supposed to be my dog. I'm trying to make an effort to be nice to her, but she's an emotional wreck! What can I do to win her trust and have her like me?

Okay so I have a miniature dachsound (SP) and he has a very big chewing problem. He's about 1 year old now but no matter how much we punish him for chewing it doesn't seem to work! We buy him toys all the time but all he does is rip them open and take the stuffing out. His favorite things to chew are paper and flip flops. We try to keep them away from him but he jumps up on top of things and grabs them down.
What can we do?!?!??!
If I don't find a solution we'll have to get rid of him :[
Please help me!!!

Does anybody know if it is ok to bath your dogs if they were given a dose of Advantage 2 weeks ago? I like to bath them, my spaniel gets stinky, but I don't know if this will ruin hte effectiveness of the product. Thanks! I threw the instructions that came with it out.

Whenever I move to a bigger place with a nice yard, I'd like to get another dog. German Shepherds are so smart, and Great Danes are so adorable. I've never had first hand experience with a Great Dane though. The next dog I get will come from a rescue.

Which one would be best with a cat, mini dachshund, basset/beagle and border collie mix?

Well I've been told that they don't. Or do they remember? I've heard yes & no. I go into the kitchen and I see that see has gone into the trash! If I don't say anything she doesnt react. But if I say her name while in the kitchen she runs outside as if she knows she did something wrong. Now for remembering, if they remember commands, like sit, stay, up open, up light. Then they must remember that going in the trash is wrong, or do you think like I think, she thinks to herself, hum he's gonna yell at me send me outside for awhile then he'll forget. I think I'll go in the trash anyways. I can handle the consequences. I don't think they think like that but I don't know.

Ive already wrote a question like this a few days ago, and everyone suggested that I warn her on how harmful human food is for dogs.

[she ONLY feeds them what we eat]

I also had suggestions to physically not let my mom feed our dogs this kind of food.

So I gave my mom information on the harms of only feeding your dog human food. She just got two hamburgers from Wendy's, and when she came home, she gave both our dogs a hamburger, and I automatically took the hamburgers away, and brought the dogs into my room and shut the door. She just came in, let them out, and fed them the hamburgers. It is rediculous, i cant stop her and i know my dogs are going to die waaay earlier than they should.

I told her that even though she isnt meaning to, she is KILLING our dogs! She is too stubborn and I dont know what to do!!

Please help!
