I recently been given a basset hound. Things are going great. Last night though, I watched him go to the cat litter and get a peice of cat do do out of the kitty litter, and then drop it on the floor. I don't know if he intends on eating or just play with but I stopped him before he did anything else. Its kind of annoying because if I'm gone for a few hours, he's either eating it or leaving it on the floor. Is this normal for these types of dogs?

He's only a puppy, and he wants to play with our dog, but he's got the hang of jumping over. Our gardens are attached together, and i keep having to bring him round to their house (they live next door..). He's done this 2 times today, and i don't know what to do about it. My mum and our neighbour are best friends, so we don't want to put up one of those wood or wire things on the fence, he's been doing this yesterday also. He knows how to get on the fence and jump in. They've tryed to put the chairs by the fence where he jumps over, but he's still a puppy, so he can get through spaces, but he's a bit big because he's mix between a boxer and something else, *SIGH*. Of course we want him and our dog to be friends, it's the first time my dog hasn't attacked a male dog.. Were thinking of letting him come over to our house for 1 hour every day, but , the problem is, we can't get him to stop jumping over. What can we do to stop him from jumping into our garden? he does this when someone is in the garden

When I was a kid growing up we had dogs that never went to a vet. They never got rabies or heart worm or distemper and lived to be 15 years old. Are we being taken by the vets and drug companies by things that are a hit and miss occurance. Should we ignore all the shots and take our dogs to the vet if they get sick.
50 years ago why is it we never heard if heart worm, is this something new?
Do dogs really need the boster shots every year? Or are we getting ripped off.

To stop all you people that want to tell me how bad I am. I will tell you my dogs get their booster shots every year and rabies shots ever three years. I treat my dog better than I did my kids when they were growing up.

my dog suffers with a form of (inter-digi) dermatitis betwen his toes. he is an old time bulldog (victorian bulldog). this results in lots of ulcers forming, swelling weeping and bleeding, making it very sore and uncomfortable for him to walk. i've tried bathing his feet in lots of different solutions but find nothing helps. i've been to the vets so many times with him but all they can do is give him antibiotics and say he may have to take them for the rest of his life (he's only 3). the vet has also said that they can give him steroids, but this is a last resort, and i don't really want him on steroids incase it alters his behaviour; i've seen what it can do to people. does any one have the magical answer or preferably a cure? has anybody got a dog that is suffering from the same condition, what did your vet say?
please help, he's my friend and it hurts to see him like this.

My neighbor recently just got a puppy, I found out because I heard it yapping outside a few times from my balcony. At first I thought this alright but recently it's getting worse, the puppy is perhaps 2 or 3 weeks old and is a Labrador, obviously a pup of that size shouldn't be left outside should it? The owners let the pup in sometimes but most of the time it's outside in all kinds of conditions, I've been thinking about running over there and getting the pup over so I can raise it. Should I call spca and complain?

Is any dog breed is known for having Oranges? The reason I ask this is I have a mix breed dog, and maybe his eye color would help find what breed he has in him. People say he looks German Shepherd, Chow, and Akita. Do any of these breeds have or are known to have Ornage eyes? Or does any other breed? Please andThank you.

I have owned dogs for four decades and have noticed a significant difference in the way they respond to the same proportion of ...experience, pain-wise...than a human would. do they have fewer nerve endings per square inch? do they have less sensitive nerves? is it the fur barrier? very very curious about this. Thanks to whomever can answer...I LOVE MY DOG!!!
