I just took him home today, and he's been crying for a while now. He's in his cage. Does he miss his mother, or does he need to go out?? I don't think he wants to come out of his cage; it doesn't seem like it... What should I do for him?

I have a 1 yr old red dobie. She has had her first heat and we are considering breeding her. We have an appointment with our vet for all of her test(hip displasia, VwD, and all the other tests). What steps do I need to take next in finding her a good "mate" and all that. My fiance breed siberian huskys for about 7 years so he knows all about the breeding part.

My dog is about 10 months old and we have never let her be around male dogs because we don't want her to get pregnant. Is there any reason her genitals would be swollen? It's a major concern... I'm thinking she might be in heat, but I have never seen this before. it started a couple of days ago, and she seems to be acting normal, but her back end is very swollen and kind of hanging. I would like to know a reason for this to make sure it is nothing serious.

she doesnt like the adult food as much so my mom tried to give her a bag of puppy food and it was like she thought it was god in the form of food. she ate the whole bag. is there any reason we shouldnt feed her science diet puppy food as an adult? why? she is a bichon/poodle if that makes any difference.

The male lab has an unbelievalbe tempermant. he is very calm and patient. My 4 year old female wants to tear his face off. We cannot let them near each other unless we have the female on a chain. She growls at him and tries to attack him. He is 3 times her size and just turns and walks away. He doesnt want any trouble. If we let the female off the chain she would, without any doubt, tear him apart. We thought that she would get over it within a few days but in the 5 days that we have had him she has shown no improvment. We give both of them the same amount of attention and play time. They are both spayed and neutered... we just want for them to be able to sit in a room together peacefully... any suggestions?

my brother keeps kicking my dog! not painfully, but so that its annoying to her. she barks everytime and sometimes he gets a kick out of it. other times, he'll yell at her for barking! he's such a jerk! i feel powerless! if i step in, he yells at me. so will my mom. meanwhile, she's in the same room as he kicks, and she doesnt say anything! i dont know how to make it stop!!!! i cant stand it! i dont wanna sit back and watch it happen! it happens AT LEAST 2 times/ hour.

She throws up 2 or 3 times a week. Most of the time it is just slimy water and food chunks. We have tried changing her food but that hasn't helped. She has only been an inside dog for 4 months so I don't know if this has been happening since I've had her or not. She will be 3 years old in November and is a Cairn Terrier/Australian Shepherd mix. Any help would be great!

My dog Keesha's birthday is coming up soon in September. I really need what to do for her birthday. I thought of inviting some of my dog lover friends over, with their dogs in the yard, to have a barbecue as a casual get together, but then as a side celebrate her birthday. She is turning 9 years September 15th. I really want something special for her, since (you never know) this could be the last birthday she has with us. Help?

My Chihuahua had fur puppies. There is two medium sized ones. There one that is about an inch bigger, and one that is really small about 2 inches smaller than the biggest one. They are about 3 weeks old. Is this normal? The bigger puppy eats soft dog food already, runs,.and plays, and the other ones don't do that yet. The smallest one is still very clumsy. Is this normal in puppies?

My brother bought a female pit bull about 2 months ago. When he bought her he didnt know she was pregnant. We finally found out about 2 weeks before she had the puppies. She had the puppies last Saturday night, she had 8 of them. They was all heathly till bout Tuesday than 5 of them died within 48 hrs. I think they was weak cause her nipples was so big some of them couldnt get a hold of it. She has 3 left and we are going to keep 2 of them. I have a couple questions about this though.
My first one is, Ive looked at the 3 remaining ones and they have big fleas on them. I know that isnt heathly but I cant bathe them so what do I do. Ive called the vet but they told me that it will be ok but im still worried.
My second question is, Im worried that the other puppies are gonna become weak cause she doesnt seem to wont to feed them like she was. If she doesnt feed them anyone can anyone tell me what kind of milk and bottles would I need so I can feed them that way. I want them to survive.

two career persons living in an apartment desire to have a dog companion, we had an experience with a Labrador puppy, but she did not do very well, did not seem to do very well with us, too much biting, and destruction, and after 3 months, we had to give her to friends. there must be a good natured medium to medium- large size dog that would fit better to our circumstances.
