Ok, after seeing and answering a question about keeping a dog outside, I have to wonder why most people in this forum have such a problem with it.

I have two dogs, both are outside. I live on 1,065 acres of land and have a small country home.

My dogs get regular vet check-ups, they are not neglected or ignored in any way, and I work with them for the majority of the day doing tasks on the ranch.

They have proper housing for winter and summer months, and I take them inside should the weather be hazardous: storms, weather exceeding 100 degrees or falling below 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Please tell me, what is wrong with my situation?

I'm sure many people who keep their dogs outside live in similar situations. My dogs are large, and I think stuffing them in my 3 bedroom home is more cruel than letting them have free range to roam on my land.

Ok I have this beautiful Maltese x shitzu female 10 month old puppy she is the only dog we have.
Im thinking about finding her another home as she suffers from MILD seperation anxiety as in howls barks and wines as soon as we go away!
We havn't had any complaints yet but if we were in town i'm pretty sure we would have had loads by now.
We don't really have a proper yard for her but we have made her a little pen to play in during the day, She really needs another dogs company and she would go really well with kids, It's not like I don't love her but most of the time she causes more stress to me than happyness as she is so much work and her seperation anxiety dosn't make it easy eather, I just want to do what's best for her but i'm finding very difficult to keep her.
What do I do.
She is a spoilt lil dog don't get me wrong she is not neglected in any way.

I have to go Afghanistan and I will be leaving my dog with my mother. I have had him for about a year and we are very good pals. I hate to have him forget about our friendship. What do you think will happen?

there were some dog attacking people incident happened in my city lately, people point fingers to dogs, but i don'n see it the same way,i have 2 dogs, dogs will not attack unless they have to defence themself, there are mean people out there, they abuse dogs ( including kids), u have no idea how curel they can be, when attack happens, we only hear story from human side, how about the dog, it never get benifits of doubt, i can not believe dog attack human without a justify reason,

My dog has fly strike - where flies bite into the tips of dog ears. The vet told us to keep him inside but he really dislikes staying inside because he's an outdoor dog now. So far we've put him this spray that keeps flies away but some flies still land on him. What can I do?

Our puppy is a very well behaved german shepherd (5 months) He is potty trained, sits & shakes on command & fetches, so I know he is listening to me very well. I am home with him most of the day, so I am the one working with him. When my fiance gets home I show him what commands Im doing & he does the same. The pup will listen to him also. However, in the past few weeks the pup has been biting my fiance a lot when he plays with him. The pup isnt biting him in anger, he is trying to play with him but thinks that my fiances hand is like one of his toys. He tried this with me for a while but Ive taught him not to do that to me. Im thinking it's because I am able to spend more time with the pup. All I know is that he is getting bigger & hes really starting to leave bleeding bite marks & bruises on my fiances hands, some people say he needs a butt whoopin but I dont think hitting him is gonna help but I do need some help trying other ways to make him stop biting/mouthing! HELP!!!

Last August when my family and i went to go choose a dog, I chose Duke because of his spunky attitude and his energy. When he came into the room he was jumping up all over us. We loved him ,so we adopted him. Duke would play with us and keep us occupied all the time. Duke was fine until about march/april. He all of a sudden got really itchy. He itched all of his hair off and became lazy. He will not play with us at all. Duke sits on the couch all day and it breaks my heart...seeing my first dog with an allergy. My dog Duke has a Westie Allergy on the skin. We haven't yet started treating him but we will be very soon. I trust that Duke will grow his hair back...but will he ever be his energetic and spunky self again? =[

When you adopt a dog from a shelter it is hard to know what kind of personality they will have or how they will fit into your lifestyle.
I recently adopted a pomeranian cross who was taken to me immediatley so I had to have her. Unfortunalty there are two other adults in the house that are supposed to care for her but she does not like them. One of them actually stays home all day and does the feeding etc, so the theory of the others doing more doesnt work. My dog is also like Dr jeckal/Mr hyde as one time she will be nice to them while another time she will growl.
This was supposed to be a family dog and the shelter told us she was well behaved. Now i dont know what to do. I dont think i can afford a behaviourist but have already read and tried some teqniques without success.

He is only 6 years old and has been on steroids for arthritis for a couple years. he is acting restless like he did before from the arthritis, but had been vomitting slimey stuff and has had very dark slimey diarrhea since yesterday afternoon. is the vomitting and diarrhea anything to do with the steroid or a twisted stomache maybe? I hope not. He is a 6 year old cocker with no history of twisted stomache, but his lower half of his back and down is very hard like tight muscles.

We just got a 4 year old male yorkie, when we got him we thought he was just dirty but we now see his skin is flaking bad!
We have given him a bath and read that conditioner can be good for his skin and coat.
I have 2 questions..
1. What can cause such bad flaky skin in yorkies?
2. Has anyone tried using conditioner for skin and coat??
Thanks, Mel

My dog Whiskey licks all the time, and licking is a sign of dominance, but she is very submissive and doesn't show an inch of trying to be alpha, what could this mean?

I have a 8 year old female dalmatian. And was fine until today when she vomited this morning. My wife told me that through out the day she has been sick twice more and now looks weak, and will not eat. She will only sips on her water. She keeps on vomiting a yellow bile (looks like uncooked egg yolks). Every vet mag. says I should wait 24 hours and only give her water. But now she has started to breath heavily. Should I rush her to the vet or wait till morning to see if her condition has changed?? Please anybody help!!!

What would cause green snot to come out of your 3 month old pup's nose?

It only came running during his second trip in the car(he loves car rides) and quit the rest of the day and night.
