It's quite the opposite. They tend to mellow out after being neutered. Testosterone can cause aggressive and extreme territorial behavior. After neutering, testosterone levels drop and they are better behaved.

Yeah, that's not true at all. They just loose the urge to hump everything in site.
Here's an interesting fact. Most dog attacks are done by un-nutered dogs.
They're also healthier in the long run, and it prevents them from getting certain cancers.

No!!! If anything nutering any animal calms them down and helps stop some agressive problems. They get calmer and more affectionate after they hae been spayed or nutered.

No, neutering does not make an animal 'get mean'. If it would help, suggest to your mom to make a call to several Vets and every single one of them will tell her the same thing. In fact, she may let you do this for her and then feel better with what Vets tell you. This is probably something she heard from her mother or father and they heard from their mothers or fathers. NOT TRUE! ; )

Actually the opposite is true. Neutering a male animal will not only lessen the potential for wandering and aggression but it has health benefits too.

I have a dog that I NEUTERED at about 6 months of age because his testicles did not descend. He is THE BIGGEST LOVE BUG EVER. He is always at my side and as gentle as a lamb around me and my family.
He thinks that at 91 pounds he is a lap dog.
Look up about the positive things on NEUTERING.

Your mom is wrong. The opposite is true. Neutering reduces the potential for aggression.

Oops, your mom's an idiot. Why would thousands of people every year neuter their dogs if this was the case?

I've always heard that when you neuter an animal it calms them down. Haven't heard of any getting mean afterwards..

No - usually when you neuter an animal, he will become *less* aggressive, because he doesn't have nearly as much testosterone as an intact animal.
