Can Shelties jump a 4 foot fence?

Its a mixed sheltie though.

Its a small dog about 20-25 pounds.

Breed standard for a Sheltie is for a dog less than 20#.

This is a small dog and it would be difficult for him to clear 4'.

I have seen Shelties up to 40# and if this is a mix your talking about, it would depend on how big it is.

If it's mixed with German Shorthair, 4' might be no problem.

Yes, I have seen smaller dogs than shelties scale a 4' fence. You need at least a 5-6' fence for any dog unless it has hip problems or no interest in getting out.

I've seen a husky climb over a 4 foot fence before. If it is a chain link fence it may learn to climb up it, however if it is wood he might not be able to jump it. It depends on the dog... I had a 2 foot fence up to keep my dog out of my garden and it took her a month to realize she could jump over it, lol. You shouldn't have any problems though

Dogs can do anything they are taught to do. Does she know she can jump a 4 foot fence? I didn't think it could be done but I taught my German Shorthair Point to climb oak trees. He hangs out on the branches with the birds.

chain link fence? if so, may not be jumping but climbing. my parent's dog climbs their fence to visit ackyard neighbors and to chase away the deer that comes around every once in a while..funniest thing i've ever seen.
oh, and yes they can jump.

yeah if it wanted to....and it dependson what its mixed with....i knew a boxer once that could jump on a flood wall....thats about 5 feet....soooo...some dogs even learn to climb fences..
