He is only 6 years old and has been on steroids for arthritis for a couple years. he is acting restless like he did before from the arthritis, but had been vomitting slimey stuff and has had very dark slimey diarrhea since yesterday afternoon. is the vomitting and diarrhea anything to do with the steroid or a twisted stomache maybe? I hope not. He is a 6 year old cocker with no history of twisted stomache, but his lower half of his back and down is very hard like tight muscles.

The situation does sound a lot like bloat, which is basically a twisted stomach.
Get him to the vet asap. In this situation you don't have much time. You could lose him if you wait.

Get him to the vet today. No point in surmising what is wrong . Nobody on here can examine the dog and make a diagnosis. Only the vet can. Don't delay. Your dog needs skilled intervention and care.

With a hard abdomen, slimy diarrhea and vomiting, sounds very serious, better get him to the vet quick.

get him to the emergency vet. the darkness of the stool is probably blood, and if the dog is vomiting something that looks like coffee grounds there is definitely an intestinal bleed somewhere.

You should take him to the vet immediately. The darkness of his stool could be blood that has been processed by his intestines. He will need an examination to determine why he's passing blood.

Try "Bactrim" type tablets available anywhere. See Petplace.com for the dosage. This product said to be better than good for diaherra and urinary problems, as a easy first step to good health. Just try. Good Luck.

I think you are referring to bloat? Feel his abdomen - if it feels hard & bloated & the dog acts like it hurts - he may have bloat. If he does - you have to get him to the vet ASAP as he can die in a VERY short amount of time.

If he is on Rimadyl read this and do NOT give him anymore, and print it take it with you to the ER vet.

What med is he taking??? They can be taking this and then all of a sudden have a reaction to it and well, take him in if it is Rimadyl.

Sorry. I would take him to the vet tonight.
