My dog has fly strike - where flies bite into the tips of dog ears. The vet told us to keep him inside but he really dislikes staying inside because he's an outdoor dog now. So far we've put him this spray that keeps flies away but some flies still land on him. What can I do?

I would look for a horse fly spray and spray it on a cloth and rub it in his ears. Then, I would spray him. It works really well for horses, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for dogs. Good luck!

Hi, I voulunteer at a Doberman rescue and we have a mixture that works pretty well and is safe for use on dogs.... Try mixing one part Avon Skin So Soft and 3 parts regular Listerene. Shake it up in a spray bottle and spray it on making sure not to get it in eyes. It works great for them and thats saying a lot since there are horses on the property as well as 30 dogs.... which adds up to LOTS OF FLIES! Hope that helps, you can also get a fly trap or make one on your own.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8Gu

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

You can tape some kind of cloth around his ears that the flys wont bite through...thats what id do....tape cloth around them and use the spray on top of the cloth area. I hope this helps.....you should also set horsefly traps around your yard....im not sure exactly what youd use but I know theres a way to do it....obviously involving small amts of animal blood where theyd get stuck so you can kill them. I know the methods are a little unorthodox but I feel its very important to stop this for your dogs sake.

I feel for your puppy. I have 2 German Shepherds that for a while were getting bit on the tips of their ears. i got something called FLYS OFF at the feed store. I put it on kind of thick and it has done a wonderful job of keeping the flies off.
Hope it helps your pup like it did mine.

Vick's Vaporub on the tips of the ears.Really works, and is safe and inexpensive! Also, keep the dog's area clean and free of feces and leftover food, and hang some flypaper from the trees.
