Sounds like a "wolf worm" or Bot Fly Larvae. Your Vet should take it out and it's good that the worm is alive because if the dog kills it by scratching, it can cause infection, as it can also cause infection and illness by trying to remove it yourself. I saw a dog with one and the Vet squeezed it out. Yep. Was gross. Good you are going to the Vet tomorrow.

what you are describing is probably a maggot. Worms don't burrow through skin. At this point, you might as well wait until tomorrow where you can take the dog for professional help.

It's a bot fly larvae. Clean it really well with hydrogene peroxide and get an antibotic tomorrow when the vet opens. It will be fine.

It is a cuterebra--a larva. The vet needs to carefully remove it.

The Vet will have to take care of it, and will also check the pup for other problems.
