I have a 8 year old female dalmatian. And was fine until today when she vomited this morning. My wife told me that through out the day she has been sick twice more and now looks weak, and will not eat. She will only sips on her water. She keeps on vomiting a yellow bile (looks like uncooked egg yolks). Every vet mag. says I should wait 24 hours and only give her water. But now she has started to breath heavily. Should I rush her to the vet or wait till morning to see if her condition has changed?? Please anybody help!!!

Just came back form the vet and she told me it was one of two things. Either my dog got food posioning or was bitten by a bug (spider). The treatment you all offered where rather good. I thank you all who answered my question. You all gave me good questions to ask the vet with and gave me a clearer idea of what the problem was and how to fix it in the future. The Vet hooked her up to an I.V and gave her an injection of Pepid ac, She told me to waith till the next day to feed her and it vomiting return to come back for an A.B shot. Maybe this info will help you all and save you some money when you best furry friend get sick. One more thing give original formula pepcid ac on an empty stomach and feed your pup a small amount of bland food a few hour later. keep this up for two days to make sure they can keep the food down.. once again from my family to all of you who helped I say thank you!!!!!

Here is a helpful link when problems arise. For some specific bile problems that people wrote in questions about, here are some insights:
http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dlivtest.html
Our dogs will occasionally eat grass because of a stomach upset...and that will in turn have them vomit up bile, since grass does not digest. They are fine after a day with it, but if it is something more, you do not want to wait, as dogs can go downhill fast. Someone tried to poison our German Shepherd once...and lucky that we did not wait when we could tell by her very hot nose, besides the vomiting, that something was definitely not right. She survived, but the vet treated it as an emergency (and turns out it was) then kept her a few more days so her vitals could be closely monitored. 'Funny' thing is, someone tried to break into the vets one night, while this dog stayed there, but changed their mind...at 126#, she was quite menacing, even in sick mode! Get your pup checked, if still sick tomorrow -- and don't hold off.

The type of vomiting you are seeing is generally caused by a dog's stomach being empty for to long. Eating something usually solves the problem.
But since she will not eat, looks to be getting weak, you should be getting into the vet tonight. If she's got something going on, dehydration will only help to worsen the problem.
Get her in to the vet tonight, they can give IV fluids if needed, and get this problem under wraps before it gets worse.
If this were my own dog, I wouldn't wait it out.
Let us know what happenes.
*****Glad everything turned out ok.

I would take her to the emergency vet now. I would not wait until morning. This could be a lot of things, and it doesn't matter what the magazines say. She has been with you for 8 years and deserves to be treated. Take her now. Don't make her suffer through the night like this.

3 or 4 years ago my dog Buddy died cuz he was very sick and he was 17. He would vomet, puke, poop, pee. We had to get him a diper cuz of this. I saw your question and I thought maybe your dogs was old. But your dog is only 8. So maybe your dog just ate something realy bad and it only happened once and might happen later in her future or your dog is sick. I think your dog just ate somethin bad. It would only probably be sick if your dog was 14 or something. But you should take her to the vet if it keeps on happening. Hope this helps. Oh, I forgot. My 2 year old dog vomited before. I think it was cuz of ummm, she ate to much people food I think.
