I am trying to find out what kind of dog I could have at my house. We have a daycare at home so the breed of the dogs would have to be kid friendly, small and also shed very little hair. Also where could I purchase this kind of dog?

Last Tuesday, I was gone for about 20-25 mins & when I came home I saw the left side of my dog's cheek was really swollen. It' s very near his eye, like high on his cheekbone. I figured he got stung by a bee as he had been outside (I have a doggie door) while I was away. I gave him 2 doses of Benadryl, but the next morning it was worse. I took him to the vet (clinic with volunteer vets to help cost down). Anyhow, she said he had a fever & was concerned that swelling could be infection from something in his gum, but gums looked good. She took a needle to the 'lump' to see if there was any pus & there wasn't. She gave him a cortisone shot, gave me some pain meds & antibiotics & told me to bring him back if it didn't get better. brought him back Friday. Different vet. She thought the same as first, but instead of a needle she took SHEARS and DUG into the lump. He is WAY worse. The swelling is so bad now he can't open his eye. Should I take him to a new vet? There's a sore where she dug.

Mike Vick does not deserve to live or die for what he has done!!! He should be kicked out of the NFL for life and go to prison. As should everyone involved in dog fighting. If the NFL does nothing but, give him a slap on the wrist does that mean the NFL condones dog fighting... YES!!! Pit bulls are NOT viscious breeds their are no such things as dogs born mean!!! Don't belive me go to http://dogs.about.com/od/dogbreeds/a/pit_bull_faq.htm
I am outraged by this behavior and having three rescued pitbulls myself that are the most loving dogs I have ever had they would NOT hurt anyone or anything. They are loyal to me and my family. Yes I have a baby too. They are around him all the time and do nothing but protect him and love him. So, post a comment if you will, voice your opinion everyone is entitled to it!!! Thank you for reading!!! Amanda

We have restriced his activity the past few days and it isn't getting any better. We have checked out his paw and don't see anything, nor does he make any noises. We have ran our hands up and down his leg- and nothing. Any ideas?

Alright, I am 16 and I pay for everything, dog food, treats, bowls, leash, collars, training, agility training etc etc. So obviously I am on a budget. I am not paying $20 a month for dry dog food. I used to breed and train labs for hunting with my mom some years ago, and the raw dog food is what we feed our dogs, of course with some fruits and veggies as well.

I have an English Pointer and he weighs about 46 pounds. I walk him about an hour daily and he currently eats 2 cups of dry food a day and he is at the perfect weight. So, now for the questions:

How much would I feed him a day? How much would it cost a month? What would I feed? Where can I get the food cheap locally? I don't want to rely on my dad to order the food on the internet, but I can and will if need be. Please give me all the info.

Once again, I only want answers from people who feed raw food or have in the past. Thank you for your time! You can e-mail me at baby_7991@yahoo.com if you need to.

I have a 5 month old female puggle. Last night she began to shake her head as if she had Parkinson's disease. This is the second time this happened. The first time was also at night but she returned to normal the next day. This time there were additional symptoms. She had a hard time standing, her legs were weak. She vomitted and later peed on her self. What is wrong with my baby? Can anyone offer any advice.

As a mother I am heartbroken for my daughter who cried herself to sleep. As a wife for my husband who felt like it was his fault because he couldn't save the puppy. And for myself because I was attached to her also. She was the runt of the litter and we had decided she was going to be one we kept as a pet.

One of my friend's dogs got attacked in the park but now I'm kind of scared that will happen to my dog. My dog is a 2 year old lab if he gets into a fight with another dog in the dog park how can I stop it? Cause you know how the dogs aren't on leashes they just run around. How would I stop a dog fight?

The breeder(a very nice white haired man) seemed very resposible. He told me it would be a "Great hunting dog" However, every time I take him out he is too afraid of the rabbits to hunt them. What do you think is wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. Tx

My 3 year old cockapoo Bailey is starting to pee on my bed, and I dont mean just a sprinkle, he pees through the blankets, sheets, and even makes it onto my pillows. He has never done this before, he is trained to pee outside, so why the sudden change? His diet is the same, he has allergies so he is on medication, but its the same meds as always, we don't have any other animals so I don't see how it could be a dominance issue. This is just really odd behavior. Why is it happening, and how can I stop it?

Last week I noticed my dog could'nt urinate, kept squating, I took her to the vet, she has a growth behind her uterus, I got the dog to the vet in time, they operated , she lived, she's 11 years old, some people said I was nuts for spending that $ on an 11 year old mutt....It was the "Easiest" decsion I ever made in my life, think it was worth it ?

it makes me very upset that someone answered my question like that!!!! that is not the question i asked!!!!!!

for some peoples info pitbulls are actually nanny dogs in england they watch and guard the babies or kids and are very loving!!!
the only reason pitbulls have a bad name is cuz here in the states stupid people fight them and give them bad reps!!!! pitbulls are good dogs and bad just like any other it all depends on how u raise them!!!

i asked a simlpe question anybody know where i can find a good fawn or buff breed ptbull and i got a bad response bacause i said i have a baby!!! well they r good dogs if u raise them right just like any other!!!!!!

We have a nearly 2 year old Border Collie/Labrador cross who can't seem to put any weight on!

He's been wormed and eats well (Bakers' Complete as he has a sensitive stomach and its the only food that suits him) but he is so skinny! I worry people will think we're not feeding him.

He's in very good health and condition so I can't work out why this is. I've always been told that Labradors have the opposite problem - being prone to obesity so unless its his Collie "genes" making him skinny, I'm at a loss to explain it. He is very active but not excessively.

Any suggestions? Anyone else found this with a Border Collie or Border Collie X?

We also have an elderly Jack Russell who's like a little barrel on legs!
