Mike Vick does not deserve to live or die for what he has done!!! He should be kicked out of the NFL for life and go to prison. As should everyone involved in dog fighting. If the NFL does nothing but, give him a slap on the wrist does that mean the NFL condones dog fighting... YES!!! Pit bulls are NOT viscious breeds their are no such things as dogs born mean!!! Don't belive me go to http://dogs.about.com/od/dogbreeds/a/pit_bull_faq.htm
I am outraged by this behavior and having three rescued pitbulls myself that are the most loving dogs I have ever had they would NOT hurt anyone or anything. They are loyal to me and my family. Yes I have a baby too. They are around him all the time and do nothing but protect him and love him. So, post a comment if you will, voice your opinion everyone is entitled to it!!! Thank you for reading!!! Amanda

I live in a safe neighborhood and my child does not NEED protection. Just saying if it came down to it I would feel perfectly safe with my dogs around. My husband works nights and there for I am by myself the dogs are my protectors if the need arised.

YOU ARE 100 % CORRECT! Michael Vick is a complete hideous monster who should be tortured just as he tortured those poor dogs. I hope he suffers and anyone who condones dog fighting should be put in a ring to fight for their lives, after they have been abused and tortured (like fighting dogs). Humans are 100 times more violent than any breed of dog. There are no violent dogs only violent humans who make htem that way.
Pits are great dogs and great family dogs. Our family Pit is the sweetest most loving dog ever. Plus I have a plat session and socialzation for dogs all the time which inclused my 2 Labs, my Pit Bull 8-12 other Pits, and 1 Cane Corso, 5-7 Rotties and 8-12 Labs. Not once in 5 years have I had a fight. I trust all those dogs and they were all raised right. There are no bad dogs just bad humans.

I agree that in SOME cases it is not in the dog but how it is taught, but in ONE case I know of, a friend was attacked by his own Pit after owning her for 10 years (got her at 7 weeks old) She was a wonderful dog for 10 years and then nearly killed him. For that reason, my children never had the "opportunity" to live with that breed, but I still don't condemn a whole breed because of one incident I know of personally. I chose the breeds I wanted because I valued the safety of my children above all else and refused to take iffy chances.
I agree also that SOME breeds have "bad blood" in SOME of their "families", no matter how they are raised. It just a fact.
If Vick is found guilty (and all evidence points in that direction so far) I feel he should be barred from ANY sports forever. Yes, it's a long time!
I would think that most of their fans would turn against his team if they don't ban him from it. If I were a fan of theirs, it would be the end for me!
I try to remember that opinions are worth what they cost...$0, but things like this make it difficult to tell the difference in opinions and judgement! I'm afraid in my case, it's more of a judgement this time...can't help it. I feel so awful for animals that are forced to fight for survival!

He's entitled to due process and a fair trial. If found guilty, he can (and should) be imprisoned for up to five years. He would also be supended from the NFL. My opinion is that the length of the NFL suspension should depend upon how involved he was. If he was actually funding the fighting, and participating or condoning some of the abuse I heard (i.e. electrocuting "losing" dogs), then I would think a lifetime suspension would be warranted.

I agree. It makes me sick that all these breed bans are popping up. They seriously need to crack down and increase the penalties for animal abusers. I have a Rottweiler who is nothing but a big baby and people get so defensive when he is around even if he is on a leash and wagging his butt a mile a minute they still call him vicious and say I only have him because he is a bully dog and I want to look intimidating which couldn't be further from the truth. We rescued him and fell in love with him. He's like a person and it makes me sick to think what his previous owners did to him. I really think animal abuse should be right up with child abuse because lets face it animal abuse leads to child abuse. People who hurt animals are taking out their frustration on something weaker and more helpless than then and eventually they will take it out on their kids if they have them or their future kids. I think we need to squash this problem now and be done with it.

Amen to that. I totally agree with you that "no dogs are born to be mean." All dogs only give to the owners what the owners give to them.
If you give your dog love and attention that dog will give you back love and attention. I know I have had many dogs and just lost my beloved Lab on July 6, 2007 after 11 beautiful years. He was totally spoiled and he gave me back so much love.
Vick and all the others that abuse animals, and are involved in dog fighting should be sent to prison. Also Vick should NOT ever play football again!!!

ok let me put it to ya this way! pit bulls do not like the taste of babies, they are not bread to be mean and hateful, there jaws do not lock together, and there bite radious is the same as any other dog, these are all myths that people conjured up to scare you. now truths. pitbulls are very loyal and loving, they are not known to be people agressive they can be agressive to other animals when not properly trained to be. It is impossible for them to be able to clench there teeth and chew at the same time! They are working dogs, what that means is they are willing to do what ever there handler wants them to do. They dont care one way or the other they want to please you the owner and they do it with out getting angry or upset. I do own a pit bull and I have children that does not make me a bad mother because my dog is very well trained and liked by many! You can turn any dog into a monster and yes any dog will bite you! I feel that they have a bad rep because the media chooses to post only the negative on the tv and nieve people that actually believe what they see only choose to see the negative. I do believe that there are many attacks that happened were not a pit, Let me put it to ya this way I bet half of you out there couldnt pick a pit out of a line up of pictures and you are calm, so if you cant pick one in that setting just try to pick one that is ready to attack you and you are running for your lives. 9 people out of 10 cant even give a great discription of a person while attacking you what makes you think you can identify a dog! what M.V did is unnearving, and he succeded in giving himself more publicty and the people out there are so ready to let him off the hook and place it as usuial on the dog! Its a shame that people like Vick can do the crime but the poor dog has to do the time, Im sorry but I hope im not the only one who thinks that is just plain stupid! next they will try to pin bank robbery on the pits because the robbers just happened to have pit bulls! and let me tell ya, I just took my pit to the vet and let me tell ya everyone there the old and young did not walk out of that office with out acknoleging my pit bull and they all pet him and showed no fear to my dog at all.

I just want to tell you one thing Amanda. There are dogs that are born "mean" as you put it. It's called genetics and they play a HUGE part in how someone will turn out. That is why breeders do GENETIC testing, to see if their dogs have something that they can pass on to their offspring. That is the reason kids take after their parents, the reason heart disease runs in some families, etc. I have dogs that were born aggressive, there was nothing I could have done to stop that. I like dogs like that because of what I do, but, a dog is born the way he is, not made. Like an old trainer told me one time. "Great dogs are born, not made". It is true Amanda.

I feel sorry for your baby....which will get him first?? The pitbulls or whatever your 3 pitbulls need to protect him from??Maybe you need to read the newspaper once in a while...people aren't banning pitbulls because of their looks....they were bred to fight and they are good at what the they do. Get the chip off your shoulder and put your baby's safety first....ditch the dogs and move to a nicer neighbourhood.
Good Luck.
P.S. I do agree that people who mistreat dogs as Mike Vick did should be punished severely.
