Last Tuesday, I was gone for about 20-25 mins & when I came home I saw the left side of my dog's cheek was really swollen. It' s very near his eye, like high on his cheekbone. I figured he got stung by a bee as he had been outside (I have a doggie door) while I was away. I gave him 2 doses of Benadryl, but the next morning it was worse. I took him to the vet (clinic with volunteer vets to help cost down). Anyhow, she said he had a fever & was concerned that swelling could be infection from something in his gum, but gums looked good. She took a needle to the 'lump' to see if there was any pus & there wasn't. She gave him a cortisone shot, gave me some pain meds & antibiotics & told me to bring him back if it didn't get better. brought him back Friday. Different vet. She thought the same as first, but instead of a needle she took SHEARS and DUG into the lump. He is WAY worse. The swelling is so bad now he can't open his eye. Should I take him to a new vet? There's a sore where she dug.

When in doubt get a second opinion. It never hurts. The procedures you said they did are common. They have been done at every practice that I have been at and worked for. I would say that it had an allergic reaction, which is normally okay after benadryl and/or cortizone. But if it continues to get worse they may be an infection just because of how they "pried"with it. Get another opinion.

Was this a vet in training? You should complain to the owner/ manager. A biopsy may have been necessary, but I think you should have been told what was going to happen first, AND your poor pooch should have been sedated. Ask this place to make good on the bad treatment of your dog, just request a different vet, and one that's qualified/ doesn't require supervision.

If you have no luck with that, then definitely get a second opinion.

Good luck!

This is not anything that warrants a specified seek advice from to the vet. Simply name up there, ask to talk to the vet, and CALMLY ask him approximately the scratch/reduce. Be non-chalant approximately it, find it irresistible's no large deal, you simply wish to understand what it is from, extra out of interest than something. This is not the style of factor that warrants money back, nor must you request one. It has not anything to do with what your puppy was once introduced in for, and in view that it is so minor, they almost definitely could throw you out. Is the reduce honestly on TOP of his head? If it is within the neck area, it would be in which they inserted the needle for anesthesia/meds after the process, and might be nicked the mistaken subject. When Jackson had his surgical procedure, he got here dwelling with a small subject with dried up blood. I knew what it was once from, in view that he had gotten pictures within the identical spot and had bled a little bit earlier than. When I was once positioned to sleep to have my tooth eliminated, the nurse attempted 3 distinctive spots on one arm, and 2 at the different earlier than she eventually bought it. I got here dwelling with scabs far and wide my palms. This particularly is not that large of a deal. Like I mentioned, name and ask evenly, and in a "no large deal" system.

You need to find a good vet and keep it. Many of them are quacks. You went to a cheap clinic and found a quack. Just because they have a DVM after their name doesn't mean they are talented and experienced. Some of the kids coming just out of med school are right down scary and stupid. Go to a good vet.

I would guess that your dog has some sort of a tumor or growth in the nasal passages from your description, but I couldn't get the photo to load.

OMG - that sounds horrible!
I would take him back to the original vet. I would make sure that I told her about the other Dr digging into the wound with shears.
Make sure they give him antibiotics & hopefully he will be OK!
Good luck!

definitley go to a new vet. yours obviously dont have a clue.
your dog could have any number of things, but tests need to be done, just slicing into it is no good unless they can tell you what it is. please get your dog some better help, and i would definitley complain about the lack of good treatment you have gotten.
