You could always post an ad in the classifieds and wait for results or pass it on to a family member if possible. Be sure to interview them so you can ensure it is headed to a loving home, not a test lab. This also dodges abuse as well. Good luck and if it turns to that, try a no kill shelter. Thanks and good luck.

No. Taking an unwanted dog to a shelter is probably the best thing to do because after being tested for any disease or behavioral problems the chances of it getting readopted are greater and probably will have a more positive outcome. But if taking it to a shelter isn't what you feel is right then you might put an ad in the newspaper or post one on the Internet asking for a new home for your dog. But this also runs the risk of the dog going to a place where it may be mistreated or neglected or worse.

I currently have three dogs that i have gotten from shelters. Of the three only one had ample baggage that I threatened to present her back a number of occasions. She has been with me for ten years in spite of her cat killing ability, noise sensitives, spookiness, and different just weird approaches of thinking. This dog has made me a greater trainer since i've had to be trained to feel external the box. She does now not revel in formal style coaching as she is sulky and can shut down very speedily with even a mild leash correction. Nonetheless for all of her faults she has a satisfactory sense of humor, could be very loving, pleased, and is a extraordinary house pet. I can believe her good with pups, children and different puppies. I don't trust her for a nanosecond with cats or other small creatures as she does have an intense prey force. I feel that should i've now not taken her, she would had been shuffled from dwelling to home and ultimately would have been euthanized. Coaching and management are ongoing for the life of the dog. It doesn't matter if it's a puppy that has under no circumstances picked up a quandary or an older pound dog that has numerous baggage. The canine above will constantly have these issues. What i've achieved was once to train her what she will have to do when this issues crop up. I have discovered that a simple sit or down command is ample to get her two brain cells to focus again on me. The spookiness and nervousness are still there. The dog has just discovered suitable conduct.

I hate the term "get rid of," It sounds as though you're talking about an old refrigerator or a bag of trash.A dog is a living, feeling being. And,if you don't want it,a shelter is the best place for it.They screen potential adopters to make sure that the dogs are placed in homes where the new owners won't "get rid " of them.

you don't get rid of a dog! you should give it away to someone who you know will take care of the dog. putting up ads in places like vet offices always helps to get the word out.

If the dog is a specific breed, there are rescue groups for each of several breeds that take charge of unwanted animals and find homes for them.

you can take the dog to a dog park and ask the other owners if they could take another dog. Eventually someone will take the dog.
