My passion in life is dogs... I recently graduated from college but my heart is not in what I do. I'd love to have a career that involves working with dogs, but I also need pay! (otherwise I'd just volunteer) Are there any decent paying careers out there focused on dogs?

Ok, to break it down a bit, my older dog, Sam, well he's become very grumpy as he's gotten older. Him and my younger dog, Bentley, can't even be in the same room together without growling at one another. Sam usually starts it, but Bentley instigates it a bit. Anyway, it's worse if my mom and I are in the room. Sam is definitely a "ladies dog." And Bentley, well it doesn't seem to matter HOW much we walk him, he still pees randomly around the house. It's like he saves pee for when he comes inside. He's been known to pee almost as soon as he comes in. We've thought about getting them fixed, but my mom's husband thinks they're too old to be fixed. We guess that Sam i probably at the very least, 9 years old, and Bentley is about 4.

Anyway, answers to any of my questions would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks!

I mean dogs that are born deaf, not ones that get old and go deaf later.

Im 15 years old and im in a place in life where every one is asking me what i want to do with my life. I know im young and i want to look at my options. For past years i have had no idea what i wanted to be. I have always had a love for animals, especially dogs/puppies, and ive wanted to own a dog since i was 1 (my first word was doggy not daddy haha) but there was always something standing in my way, my parents. they love animals, but they just dont think that i can take the responsability, which i know i can.

So few days ago i step into a petstore and i look at the puppies, as usual, but this time i felt something, like something special. I really want to work with pets :)

She is also a wolf hybrid if that helps. i also give my dogs vitamins everyday
like i have chicken, steak, roast, deer meat, etc. I dont feed them alot and they LOVE the meat also. Is This healthy for my dogs

He's a medium sized Dalmation mix. Approx. 50-60ish lbs. One year and three months old. I have a feeling like I'm underfeeding him, but I'm not sure if he's just eating because the food is in from of him...

I am not sure wheather or not to purchase a male or female. I have heard a few different things.
If anyone can help me out with any tips on training that would be great as I will be using this dog for hunting game.
I also have a 12 month old. As this is a sniffer dog and not aggressive, will the GSP still make a good family pet.
Cheers Brett

I work at an Animal Shelter, and a few of the girls keep up with Government stuff.. The US Government actually brought over over 300 German Shephards to Iraq and used them as mine sniffing dogs and bomb dogs.. They put them out on mine fields to see if they'd get blown up..

..As if that wasen't enough... They took the remaining 126 dogs, lined them up, and shot them to death because they didn't want them coming back to America.

I feel so bad about this, my boyfriend is in the Navy and I do try to support him, but with stuff like this behind our backs, I'm just not happy about it..

I teared up when they told me this.. Did anybody else know about it? They hid it well...

How can we stop people from confining their dogs to the backyard to be ignored. If there is shelter and food, there is no law being broken, therefore not much we can do!!

I just adopted a 4 year old male Doberman and he might just be the sweetest dog I have ever had. When we got him he was 25 pounds underweight, his nails were very overgrown and he had difficulty walking, he had zero training and had no idea what affection was. We'd go to pet him and he had no idea what it was all about. Now that he is used to it he is very affectionate, and even with little or no socialization he loves every dog, person, child and cat he has met! In two weeks he has learned all his basic obedience commands and is nearly 100% housetrained!
It sickens me that a dog this wonderful spent 4 whole years neglected in someone's backyard and could have spent his whole life there. I am glad they got sick of him and sent him to rescue.
How can we stop this from happening to other dogs?

brother and sister - 17 weeks old - neutered and spayed today - I know that all dogs are as different as snow flakes but, would appreciate some input from other pet owners about their experiences - I assume it is a plus to have it done early before their personalities are fully developed (and before an unwanted pregnancy occurs, of course). Will hormone imbalances affect other organ systems? Thanks.

My girls are whining because they want to sleep and they won't bed down until I do. So, is it okay if I say "good night" to you all? See you later. As always, it was fun, educationa, and interesting. Pleasant dreams! Mandy and Ginger send you dog kisses.

He got little bumps all over his belly and boy parts so the next day I called the vet to ask what I could put on it. I mentioned he had a small red patch on his neck also and she asked me about it. When I looked at it, it was so much worse than it had ever been. I went to the vet and she said he had a hot spot that got a bacterical infection in it. He got two steriod shots and an antibiotic for the next 3 weeks. This was yesterday. Now today, the huge red sore looks green and puss y (I can't believe they just starred that out) . Is this normal for when an infection is coming out or should I be worried?

We recently switched from Natural Choice dry food for puppies to Science Diet and noticed a chance in her breath. It obvious that the cause is Science Diet just by smelling the bag and food itself.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Ok, so here's the story. I raise rabbits. Recently someone had broken into my house, and destroyed it. They also broke into my bunny barn and kicked and beat one of my rabbits so badly, that I'm still not convinced he'll pull out of this... He's still at the vets, almost a week now, in critical condition.

I've now placed security cameras in my barn. But, in your opinion, would it be a good idea for me to get a guard dog? If so, what breed, in your opinion would be best?

So I want to adopt an ex-racer but I keep hearing all of these horror stories. People adopt them and within a year or two the dogs get bone cancer and die.

So is it very common for these dogs to get bone cancer? If so, I will not bother getting one. I want a dog that will live a long time not just 2 or 3 years.

I am interested in getting a beagle, but I'm not sure if they are good dogs. I have a 1 and half year old. How are they around kids? (I'm interested in a puppy so it will grow up with her) I've heard that they howl alot.

also, would they be better than a Welsh Corgi? Thanks.
