Ive already wrote a question like this a few days ago, and everyone suggested that I warn her on how harmful human food is for dogs.

[she ONLY feeds them what we eat]

I also had suggestions to physically not let my mom feed our dogs this kind of food.

So I gave my mom information on the harms of only feeding your dog human food. She just got two hamburgers from Wendy's, and when she came home, she gave both our dogs a hamburger, and I automatically took the hamburgers away, and brought the dogs into my room and shut the door. She just came in, let them out, and fed them the hamburgers. It is rediculous, i cant stop her and i know my dogs are going to die waaay earlier than they should.

I told her that even though she isnt meaning to, she is KILLING our dogs! She is too stubborn and I dont know what to do!!

Please help!

My mother is the same way. Her 7 year old chihuahua is 20lbs...yes that big! He eats mcdonalds, KFC, toast w/ jam and butter dipped in coffee ect.

For years my brother and I explained to her, argued with her, tried to convince her. I even had our family vet sit down and talk with her about Willie's bad eating habits after he had an allergic reaction to human food (he broke out in hives) she wouldn't stop.

It wasn't until about 5 months ago that Willie's colon shut down. He didn't go to the bathroom for two days, and became deathly ill. My mother called me at work in a panic, she said "Willie's sick, what do I do?" I called the vet and took him in asap.

Out vet explained to my mom after they had to manually pump out Willie's colon, that due to his weight and improper eating habits, he could die of toxic shock due to colon failure. It took him nearly dying for her to put him on a balanced diet of vet approved foods.

This story may help, but it might take a serious illness or incident like this to help make your mom understand.

There are certain fats and sugars in human foods that dog's stomachs are not made to digest properly as these are not foods that these animals eat in the wild and are not genetically predisposed to having the right compounds to digest. This can cause allergic reactions, colon failure and quick, heavy weight gain in dogs which can have tragic effects.

Human food once in a while is not going to harm a dog, but they need to have dog food. My dogs both lived long lives and were given scraps 2-3 times a week, but just a little bit. Hamburgers are not good for humans, so they definately are not good for dogs. If you can, buy dry dog food and feed the dog yourself.

My Grandma had a dog for over fourteen years that ate what she ate as well as dog food. (Then again, you said that that's ALL that your mom is feeding them)
It doesn't hurt your dogs that bad to eat human food; dog food is a recent invention. (What do you think they ate before Purina was around?)
You should, however, get her to stop feeding them food that's not even good for humans!

Well try notto be mean...just say the dogs may get really sick and i just want the best for them...so i am buying dog food. If she says something like oh nothings gonna happen then you have to show true facts then she may listen. Make sure they get dog food they NEED to be healthy before it is too late

With the exception of some human foods, they won't harm your dog. An occassional hamburger (without pickle or onions) from Wendy's, McDonalds, etc isn't going ot hurt them at all.
Dogs can have people food as long as it isn't salted/spiced,fried, doesn't contain onions, grapes, raisins, beets.

They can have ground beef, peanut butter, turkey, chicken, pork (no ham),lamb, hearts, liver, gizzards, tripe, watermelon, berries, apples, pears, sweet potato, tomato, green beans, peas, spinach, carrots, banana, etc.

i hate to say this, but if you care about your dogs, you might want to consider giving them away. they will get seriously sick with all that human food (especially hamburgers! too much salt and preservatives). do the right thing, and get those dogs away from your mom. maybe a friend will take them so you can still see them every now and then.

You cant make someone do what they dont want to do.she isnt going to stop until those dogs end up dead or you could give them up to a good home where they wont be fed human food.good luck.

i feed my dogs whatever i eat, home cooked food , plus regular dry dog food. they are STACKED - they arent fat and or skinny , they are perfect - they never got sick, never got overwieght cuz i walk them daily - anybody that thinks dry food is better than regular home cooked food is stupid - use common sense, there is no scientific study that says human food is bad for animals, and even if there is, its FKN retared, cuz my dogs are in perfect health - ( i am not talking about fast food either, that **** is bad for everybody in generall) im talken about home cooked food, rice, chicken meat , steaks, all sorts of meats, vegtables

well, the hamburgers from Wendy's are terrible for dogs. They're not even very god for humans! But very natural things such as grapes, SOME meats, and very unprocessed foods are OK for dogs. But you should tell your mom to stop, and tel her that she is killing your dogs. Ask the vet if human food is harmful and if he says yes, ask him to please tell your mom that!

Hope I helped!
