.....Well, yes, as many people said, chihuahuas (not chiwawa) are normally the nervous type. And since you just had him yesterday, I guess he is just scared, considering that he is in a new enviroment with many different new faces. You must reassure him and make him feel loved and cared for as much as possible. You must give him enough attention....I have a friend with a chihuahua and they really are best friends. Chihuahuas are loyal and good pets specially when they already have that really good relationship with you.... Just keep up the relationship! ;)

I have a Chihuahua mix, and like the others, she does shake sometimes. We got here from a home where the other dogs tortured her and the dad wasn't a huge fan of her. She was born to a friend of ours and we helped find homes. When hers didn't work out, they gave her to me since she was my favorite. She took right to me and never shook, but with men she gets very nervous as well as with most other dogs. They are a nervous breed and will shake a lot when nervous, but it should go away in situations of comfort. After awhile, if he hasn't become comfortable, I'd try to identify if there is anything in particular that's troubling him - when is the shaking worse/less. I'm fortunate to know my dog's first home and what things make her nervous now, but you may not know his past. I know for my dog, her crate was a safety net for a long time and now she's also chosen several others throughout the house. She likes her special blanket that nobody but her uses (which is a large fleece blanket that she'll build a 'nest' in) and she also likes our laps when she's scared (I know you're not supposed to coddle them when they're anxious, but during thunderstorms I sometimes can't resist!). Good luck. Anxious breed or not, I don't know that I'd be satisfied with the idea that he'll shake forever. I've never seen a Chihuahua shake without a trigger.

Chihuahuas tend to shake when they're scared, nervous, cold, or in a new environment. Give your chihuahua time to get used to everything. I have a chihuahua and she used to shake all the time the first year we had her. She's 5 years old now and she only shakes when my brother comes over (My dog doesn't like him).

I've seen a lot of Chihuahuas shake from being nervous, as they are by nature or he could be cold. You can get a little sweater for him. Just comfort him, reassure him until he gets used to his new surroundings and if you think he might be cold, get him a little sweater and a comfy bed with his own little blanket. Good luck with him.

i have 2 chihuahuas. one of them shakes on occasion and the other one never shakes unless hes really nervous, like when i take him to the vet. but the one that does shake only shakes when shes scared, nervous or cold. so yours is probably just scared since hes in a new place. he will stop when he is comfortable with his surroundings.

Chihuahua....... is this the breed you are trying to spell??
shaking is just a character of this breed.
I strongly suggest going to the book store RIGHT NOW & getting a book on Chihuahua's and reading all you can about this breed and caring for them.
Now, shaking is also a symptom of fever or pain (prob not the case in this breed).... have you taken this dog to the vet yet? ALWAYS take any new pet to the vet asap for a check up and see what vaccines she requires!
I suggest.... call the vet for a new dog appt, & go to the book store/ pet store and get a book!!!

We once had a JRT come to stay with us for a while. She shook hard. After she got used to us, she calmed down and was a very happy dog. We found out later that the woman who had her before never hit her but yelled/screamed at her all the time (ager problems). She shook violently. After she was put in a quiet setting, she stayed calm, so we kept her for the rest of her life (9 more years) and she never shook like that again.

As most everyone else has said they are a nervous breed to begin with. Just be sure he/she is up to date on all shots/wormers etc. Sometimes shaking can be a symptom of distempter also..but it is probably just nervous. Good Luck.

Chihuahuas are very high strung and nervous but very loyal to their owners. I'm sure once he/she gets used to the new environment and comfortable with you it will not be a constant thing. They may do it ocassionally if company comes over or if taken out but it should calm down. Good luck with your new puppy.

buy her a crate or a kennel and cover half of the kennel with a blanket and place her in it (with the door still open and it will make her feel safer and less shaky. and whenever she is scared she will just go to her kennel. put some blankets in the kennel too. confort her and pet her gently. she is very scared to be at a new home and doesnt no anyone there. and they get cold easily so cover her up with something and make her feel safe, my chiweenie loves her kennel and will sleep and go in there during thunder storms and such. it really helps.
good luck to your new chihuahua,.
