My dog barks a lot and it is usually nothing in particular that she needs to bark at. She almost never responds to "No!". We have tried a shock collar but we never have it on her all the time so we can't always control her. If it is off she thinks there is no problem with barking. What is an effective way to get her to bark less or possibly not at all?

We had two other dogs(courtney 8, and billy 4) before we got our new dog(twiggy, 13 weeks) we have had her for 2 days now and billy (who is much larger than twiggy, runs away from her everytime she comes with in 2 inches of him. Courntey loves the new puppy, probably because she has had puppys her self. But between Billy and Twiggy i just dont get it, its like the elephant running away from the mouse! help!

I was told that it is not a good idea to physically punish my puppy, I keep firmly saying "no", but she keeps biting. Every time I raise my voice she barks at me. She is wonderful, she is almost potty trained and she loves her crate, but we can not even play with her, she bites us! Her little teeth are so sharp. What should we do?

When a dog's tail is docked, does it generally leave a scar?

I have three rescued dogs, all purebred, all breeds with docked tails. One of them has a scar. I can't find one on the other two.

Is this common? The one with the scar is a larger dog and has a fatter tail (he's a Brittany), so maybe that's why I can see his scar?

I'd think at a few hours old when the tail is docked, it likely wouldn't leave a scar?

Thanks!

my dog (her name is Chubby) disappear one day and reappear after 30 minutes at my backyard gate. after a few weeks, her stomach became huge and her nipples are fat. i am getting sort of confuse, because it could be that she is fat, or that she is pregnant. i compared her to her older sister (named Chewy). Chewy wasn't oversize, but chubby was. is she pregnant or what???????

I was thinking that it was a big dog and needed a lot of exercise, but something I read made me think again. What is the proper exercise for my 12 weeks old pup, and since he doesn't drool at all, does that mean he is a "dry mouth"?

I adopted a 7 year old dalmation from a shelter, and they told me she was fixed, but she just went into heat, I think. She started bleeding a little, but is otherwise normal. I was just wondering can a dog that is fixed still go into heat? I've never had a dog before, so sorry if this question sounds stupid, I just really don't know. Thanks for all your help.

I am between 10 and 15, I already have a golden retriever, I want one that can be found at a humane association for under $150. Outside during the day [usually] and inside at night, a medium size [not tinkerbell sized, not lassie sized, between the two] I don't want to spend a lot of money on it, I would take it on a walk about 3 times a week, spend about half an hour with it a night when I let it inside. That kind of stuff. I'll probably add more details when I can think of some =] thx in advance.

hes vomiting, watery diahrrea, or however u spell that, and he is just sitting there. dont get me wrong, we took him 2 the emergency center last night, he spent the nite, now were taking him 2 the vet, which we were @ earlier, and we hav 2 go bak @ 4. he DOES hav more than 1 kind of parasite, i know for sure, hes pooping them out all the time, and we dont know what else it could be that is making him this sick. he was tested 4 parvo, negative, but our vet said it will take another couple of days to confirm the answer. so i would really like to know what he could have wrong. he has a clear discharge coming out of his eye. i havent seen him vomit yet, but hes having uncontrollable constant diahrrea, and its like water, and the worms are coming out with it. he had to b on an IV @ the ER. so they didnt figure out yet what it is, but our vet said the problem goes farther than parasites. HELP!?!
