Your question worries me. Even if you don't pay much for a dog initially, dogs are expensive. You have the small stuff. Collar, leash, license, food and water bowls, bed, crate, toys, tooth brush and paste. Then you get into what to feed the dog. A low cost poor quality food that will have you asking questions like,"why does my dogs breath smell so bad?" "why does my dog have a bad body odor?" "what can i give my dog to give it a shiny coat?" "why does my dog scratch all the time?" That's what cheap food can do for your dog. Now a premium quality food has the nutrients a dog needs without the corn and wheat fillers that cause problems and they don't have by products (want to feed your dog cancerous tissue?) Premium quality foods come at a premium price but they are worth it. Okay so far the dog hasn't cost much, what $100.00 maybe $200.00? But we haven't been to the vet yet. Shots, wormer, never use otc's, they can kill your dog. Fleas? Still needs a vet, again otc's are harmful, even fatal. Spay/neuter, unless you are goining to add to the millions of homeless dogs that die every year. Then there's the anual vet visits for shots and check up, including dental. Yes those teeth will need cleaned to stay healthy. Bad teeth cause other health problems which will be more vet bills. The anual vet visits are when the dog is yopung and healthy. As it gets older it will need semi-anual visits. Then there's the dogs that develope diseases and need ongoing care and meds. Oh, did I mention when the dog gets ill and/or injured (and it will) it will need a vet then? Free dog? Cheap dog? There is no such thing.

One of the best and cheapest places you can find a pet is your local animal shelter, they almost always have puppies (and kittens) and they usually already have their first rounds of shots, but if you go for an older pup possibly even neutered/spayed...The fee is usually minimal maybe around 15-20 dollars...Go in check out the dogs and puppies, see what dog responds best to you, you don't want one that shys away from you. If you let them, your best pets will almost always pick you and you can save an animal in need of a loving good home! Best of luck for your puppy shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From someone who doesn't give a d*mn about health or temperament. If you want a dog that will cost you lots of money in vet bills or will either be aggressive or a nervous wreck, that's the place to go.
On the other hand, if you want a healthy dog with a good temperament you'll have to shell out some dough and find a reputable breeder.
Besides, what you pay for a puppy is only a fraction of what it costs to look after them. If you can't afford to pay the normal price for one, you sure can't afford to maintain it.

The Humane Society is the best place to get a new pet- just look in the phone book! Not only does adopting a dog there save you money, it gives the dog a second chance at life. Best of luck for you and your new puppy. Hope this helps!!!

If you can't afford the adoption fees, how can you afford the puppy? They have to eat, go to regular vet visits, they like toys to chew on and fluffy beds to sleep on.
Spending a couple hundred dollars to buy a puppy is the least of your worries. You'll be replacing carpet if he has an accident and you don't clean it up properly, replacing woodwork that he chews up because you left him alone and he got bored, there's all kinds of hidden expenses that go along with being a pet owner.
I'd suggest a goldfish. You can get them super cheap, give them a couple of fish flakes a day and they're set.

Animal Shelters and Rescue Groups ask for an adoption donation if you adopt an animal, and it is usually from $100-$200. And it usually includes all vaccines, spay/neuter, dewormer, and heartworm prevention. So rescuing an animal is the best way to go cost wise. And you are saving a life. Just be sure that you will have enough money to care for your dog for years down the road.

dont buy a puppy while millions of home less dogs are out to sleep everyday. Search a local shelter and find a pup!

Thats easy, try the humane society. The dogs are free they just ask that you make a donation. Check local paper ads also, people will advertise if they have puppies to give away or for sale.

Wow, no other requirements.. No size, no colour, don't care if the dog is healthy, or good temperament.. The only thing you care about is cheaper than usual??? You are a red flag!
