We had two other dogs(courtney 8, and billy 4) before we got our new dog(twiggy, 13 weeks) we have had her for 2 days now and billy (who is much larger than twiggy, runs away from her everytime she comes with in 2 inches of him. Courntey loves the new puppy, probably because she has had puppys her self. But between Billy and Twiggy i just dont get it, its like the elephant running away from the mouse! help!

Is Billy neutered? If so he more than likely will be the low dog on the totem pole. There is a pecking order with dog's. The more there are, the more one will be at the bottom. As this new pup is a female and is now about 3 & 1/2 months old, she is starting to show she's the boss. Courtney has had pups so she will be the one to disipline the new pup. Billy will get used to her in time, don't worry too much about it. He'll adjust to her. He's just worried he'll get picked on more. LOL
Give him some special attention now so he knows you are still in charge of them.

Have fun with your dogs. I breed Corgi's and watch mine play all the time and know who's the boss and who's the subservent one.

We had a veryyyy spoiled 3 year old biy before we got a 2 month old baby girl and the suggestion we got from our vet was to introduce them on the territory that doesnt belong or known to either one of them. Try taking Billy and the puppy with a friend for a walk and carry the puppy so he is not all that aware that the puppy is there... and then slowlly introduce them making it look like he just met another dog in the park and they are making friends and then together bring them back to your house. that way he feels like he met a friend and they are jsut comming in together. We did that and our older one was not all that happy about a puppy but within a day he warmed up to her. He was running away from the puppy too, but its only because its something unknown. I would say just be patient and show them equal amount of love.

I adopted a puppy called Tako at 6 wks old, I already had a 2 yr old dog named Wally. Whenever Tako would approach Wally he would bolt upstairs.

I never figured what that was about but it was hilarious this 3 pound puppy chasing my 45 pound dog up the stairs.

Anyway gradually over three weeks he transitioned from running away to playing with the puppy. Now they are best of buddies. Just give it time they will probably be best of buds as the puppy gets older.

Give them time and lots of individual attention. The dogs will get used to each other, but it could take a while.

it takes time. animals don't like having new animals come into their territory... but they get used to them after a few days or weeks. my cat was incredibly timid when we brought home a kitten and it took him two weeks to get used to her, and my dog loved the kitten the first time it saw her. it's just how they are.

my only advice is to get them both on seperate sides of the room and slowly introduce them to each other but make sure you are right there with them incase something goes wrong with one of their attitudes.
