I am between 10 and 15, I already have a golden retriever, I want one that can be found at a humane association for under $150. Outside during the day [usually] and inside at night, a medium size [not tinkerbell sized, not lassie sized, between the two] I don't want to spend a lot of money on it, I would take it on a walk about 3 times a week, spend about half an hour with it a night when I let it inside. That kind of stuff. I'll probably add more details when I can think of some =] thx in advance.

i think the german shepard would be best for you it needs about the amount or walking and running you need and they're great dogs that can protect you and are very loveable. and im telling you from experience
The German Shepherd Dog of today continues to be a superlative companion dog and is the working dog of choice by many agencies. In North America the German Shepherd Dog is, by litter and individual dog registrations, one of the most popular and numerous breeds.
The breed is suitable for herding, police work, guiding the visually impaired, schutzhund, ring sport, search and rescue, drug and bomb detection and tracking to name a few. The German Shepherd Dog is also a natural guard dog, being territorial and protective.
Requirements -
- Daily Exercise to maintain physical and mental fitness.
- Not allowed to run free but confined to a fenced yard or a kennel run (never chain or tie the dog).
- Training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership, as well as establishing a strong bond between owner, trainer and dog.

Dogs are like Children and need the proper amount of attention. You need to think this through throughly about having two dogs. There are so many things to consider when getting a new dog when you already have one. Your current dog must get along with other dogs... or it won't get along with a new one in your home. Do lots of research before selecting a breed and you may want to take your current dog with you when you look to make sure they can get along. However, if you don't have the time to care for your current dog, getting another one is not a good idea. Two dogs is A LOT of work. Trust me. I have two VERY large dobermans in my house and Its tough some times after a long day of work to make sure they both get walked every day and get lots of love. You should also talk this over with your family ( I assume you don't live alone). They should have a say in the animal because they have to live with it too.

Wow, you've got some pretty specific demands! Unfortunately, any dog, if you are going to make it a member of the family, needs attention and love on fulltime basis...not when you feel like giving. Any medium sized dog needs exercise every day...not just 3 times a week. Suppose you get though with its 1/2 hour "visitation" time before this lucky dog wants to stop. Will you just chain it up? or put it in its kennel? Maybe you better rethink?.....

Well, you seem like you don't have the most time on you're hands. Why not just stick with you're Golden Retriever? If you get a smaller dog, you don't know how your Golden will get along with the new dog. Most small dogs don't do too well outside all day, either. It would be best to just stick with 1 dog for now, and maybe when you get more time on your hands, you can find a great dog at a shelter to take home.
Hope that helps =)

not a dog with high energy, such as a terrier or a working dog. So no border collie for you!! lol You could get a german shepherd mix, or some other type of dog such as a spaniel, but it should not be a puppy, as when left alone they can be bored and destructive. and I hope you have a large yard combined with some lonnngggg walks. (1 hour sound good?)
I in general do not approve of your getting another dog, since he would be alone by himself all day. An older dog might work well, since they do not have much energy and are more willing to just sit around doing nothing all day.

GOOD LUCK FINDING ONE THAT CHEAP! We looked around humane associations and found nada!!
Make sure the dog is big enough to be an outdoor dog. Most small or med size dogs are looked at as indoor dogs. Atleast thats what my local dog officer said about our 60 lb mutt that we let run outside on her dog run (on nice days) until we got home at 4pm. Now she has to sit inside until we get home and then go out just a little while. good luck!

I have enjoyed the terrier mixes really well. They are playful but usually are easy to train to potty outdoors and not make horrible messes inside. If you are going to keep them in at night you will probably want to think about kennel training so he or she will not soil your carpet. Normally a dog will not have accidents in their little crate or kennel. I hope you find the perfect one but remember this when you go out looking try to let your pet choose you first . If they come to you and know one else, you will know they are the one for you.

dogs need more time then that. 30 minutes isn't alot of time each day to spend with a dog. I would say since you already have a dog then don't get another one since you don't have to time to play with it.
Note: These were your exact words:I would take it on a walk about 3 times a week, spend about half an hour with it a night when I let it inside. That means you don't have time for another dog.
Please do another dog a favor and not get one.

You're willing to spend a half hour a day with the dog and walk it three times a week? A dog is a pack animal it needs more attention than you have to give. You don't need a dog...and no dog needs you. Get a cat. Or a goldfish.

Boxers are great dogs. Some are petite and only get up to maybe 45 lbs. Some are larger too, sometimes up to 80 lbs.
They are energetic dogs who love to be outside at day and inside on your furniture at night.
