It's ok with any dog. Just not too often because it can cause constipation.

my vet told me Raw Hyde is really bad for dogs digestive system. He recommended getting any kind of bone that is Nylabone brand. The have some really good long term bones that will keep your dog busy for awhile.

It depends. Dogs should never have raw hide bones while unattended, and if a dog chews large pieces off and swallows them they shouldn't have raw hide bones. If large pieces are chewed off and swallowed it can cause an intestinal blockage, which can be Very Dangerous.
I give my dog raw hide chews every once in a while. She only gets it for about 1/2 hour while supervised. As soon as she chews one end until it is soft I cut it off with scissors so she can't chew a large piece off. If you can't keep an eye on your dog while he chews it, or if he chews large pieces off he shouldn't have a raw hide bone.

If you want him to have them you can try it out. Give it to him and monitor him carefully to see that he chews it up until its soft. You can then take it away or just let him eat it. If you see that he's trying to swallow it, hes probably not a good candidate for them.
My puppy bloats with too much food and has a lot of gas issues, but i can give him a bunch of chews and he'll wait till they are nice and soft and then swallow them without any problems at all.
So really it just depends on the dog.

Vets say no raw hide, no pigs ears, nothing with red dye. Greenies and normal dog food preferably premium.

only if youwatch teh dog when he is chewing on it. they can get a large piece off and swallow and it can cause some very serious problems.
I worked in a vets office and seen tehm come in on emergency and need a near $5,000 operation or they would have died.

I give my dog some.
It helps with tartar buildup while tasting good.
If you are very concerned there are other alternatives.
