Dogs - January 2007

I got my golden retriever/black lab mix puppy six years ago. She and the rest of her litter were being given away in front of K Mart. I found a website last night saying that this is now one of these new breeds of dogs. They are called Black Golden Lab Retrievers. I prefer to call her a dog lol. I got her before all of the designer dog fad came around. I got her because I thought she would be a good companion to my son. She has been everything I could have hoped for. I dont really care what she is ( designer dog, purebreed, mutt, or plain dog ) we love her. She looks just like the picture on the web page too. Tell me what you think about this new "breed". I just want to know if this is the new designer dog craze.

that is very close to me...I've been considering getting a King Charles, but don't know if he will accept him. Also, have a female Beagle, that he is intimitated by, even though he still gets most of the attention.

I got my new puppy just 3 days ago. He is only 3.2 pounds. He is such a good puppy! The pet store I got him from used science diet and his vet also recommended science diet. So, now I have 2 bags of science diet puppy food but I have heard some things about science diet. I have heard science diet is full of fillers and it is not very good. What should I do? should I switch him? Which puppy food do you recommend? If I do switch him, how do I do it?

she loves to sleep on her back and the noise is really bad when she does this, she has had parvo as a pup and i thought she might have had heart damage but the vet says no, she weighs 18 pounds, and suggestions on what this could be? and what i can do about it?

Okay, let me start by saying I have been to the vet and he is healthy. I have a 13 week old Shepherd pup. The first week I had him home he was throwing up his breakfast. It stopped. Yesterday and today he threw up his breakfast.....it is never his dinner or Lunch. Yesterday he threw up mid-afternoon, today was right after he ate. Could it be that he ate something that made him throw up...kinda like when dogs eat grass. He also eats like a slob, never chews.....I soak his food to help prevent bloat as were the breeders recomendations. He also gulps water fast. Could it be he is drinking to fast?.....not sure and he goes for his shots in 2 weeks, and if he goes to the vet for a check up.....60 dollars later. I have a 2.5 yr old Jack Russell Terrier. Every so often, we'll be in our back yard & out of the blue, he wants inside. His tail will tuck in and he will start to tremble. He seems to be "sniffing the air" alot when this happens, at first. When I let him inside, he'll go lie in his crate or in a warm/cozy spot. This can last for an hr sometimes up to 2. Just keeping to himself. I can feel his muscles trembling, mostly in his back legs. I'm scared something is wrong with him. My parents keep saying "it's something outside because it only happens when he's outside". The first time this happened, his eye swelled up really bad, as if he was stung. I called the vet & they said to put a cold cloth there (which helped w/ the swelling). That was the first time it happened. He was trembling, tail down, etc. Every time after that, there is no visible swelling anywhere, just the shaking & cowaring. He will just be minding his own business & all of a sudden w/out warning, he starts doing it. HELP!

I went to work and my puppy got into a pack of gum that was left on the night stand......She ate about 5 pieces and is now having difficluty breathing.....Most vets around me are closed on Sundays, and i dont have a whole lot of money to take her to an emergency clinic......Does anyone have any ideas that might be able to help my sick puppy????? My dog ran next door un-provocked and grabbed their toy puddle in her mouth and then dropped her They took her to the vet and was told she had a broken back there was nothing they could do She was ten years old and in very poor health She did'nt make it through the night I got a ticket for $240.00 and a notice saying my dog was dangerous and I have two options 1st is register her as a dangerous dog and pay $50.00 dollars reg. fee get a kennel and $250.000. Liability coverage 2nd is to appeal the decision by paying the court $300.00 for coast of an attorney This is a nonrefundable I never heard of that I was told there is no other way to appeal I have no money! My dog is not bad this is the first time ever I love her she is my child.they are going to kill her and I can't even get anyone to lesion they just want $

We just got a 4 month old retreaver from the pound and they gave her a parvo shot and distemper. We are fostering the dog till we decide if we want to keep her. She is very sweet but will not eat. She has diahreha. She has been housebroken already and it is obvious that she is used to being inside a home.
If she has already had her shots, is there a chance of overdose and how soon may we see improvement?
