HI i have been with my husband for 16 years and married for 2 ,i have always wanted a dog but he didnt ,but 4 weeks ago we finally got a little king charles and he loves him to bits,he was worried about the smell and the house getting wrecked, oliver has a crate which we use when we are not here so he cant get into any mischief and so we are all happy ,and we bath oliver every 2 weeks so he doesnt smell, talk to the person that doesnt want an animal there is probably an explaination why he dont want one and see if you can solve the problem, dont just get an animal if he doesnt want one it would not be fair to the dog.xxx

Ask at a local training school if you would be allowed to observe a puppy kindergarten and then drag that person along with you. If seeing the antics that the pups go through at school doesn't convince this person, then DON'T get a dog. The worst thing you could do for the dog is to bring them into a home where they get mixed signals. If everyone isn't on the same page, you'll have a very confused animal and more problems than you ever thought possible.

I got my husband to buy me one as a wedding present after years of asking him for a dog, now he says he won't live without one.If you are already married or not planning on it try compromising with a trial period or a small breed. If it's your parents it's a lot harder to persuade them as it's their house. You'll have to show them you are responsible enough to walk it every day and remember to feed it and maybe think about getting a job to pay for the bills. Ours costs about £800 a year all in. Think about who can look after it if you go on holiday too, kennel fees are expensive. Have any of your friends got a dog you could borrow to show your someone what a great thing dogs are to have around. Honestly, best pet in the world . Hope you succeed.

First off, why would you want to persuade them to want a dog? A pet should be a companion that you will always cherish your time with. Not a burden that you have to endure. Maybe they have a good reason. I wouldn't recommend making them like dogs...they have an opinon and you have one too. Respect that.

Spend some time with someone elses dog to show that person how much personality the little barstards have, ask them to go just to look at a puppy, if that dont break em i dont no wot will.

I don't think it would be a good idea to try. A pet should bring joy to someone and if they are persuaded to get one it would just be a burden and the pet would not be happy either.

you could take them to a re homing centre to see them. it could change their view. if this doesnt work then you cant persuade them. all depends on the reason why that person doesnt want one in the beginning for a method that might change their views.

Justy don't. A dog is a big responsibility and commitment. If someone doesn't really want one, it is wrong to get one, because that's how they end up unwanted and in the streets.

You don't - cos that person will end up abandoning the dog, & either you will have to take over its care, or it'll end up in the RSPCA shelter & you'll be left feeling guilty cos you pushed that person too hard.
