Tennessee teen severely injured in dog attack
UNDATED -- A 15-year-old boy in Tennessee is recovering from an animal attack. He was mauled by a pack of pit bulls.

Paul Brown was jumped on a McMinn County road by at least 15 of the dogs.

He ran into a nearby field for safety, and with the dogs biting at his feet, arms and neck, signaled frantically for help.

A neighbor saw Brown waving from a fence post and fought the dogs off.

Brown was taken to the hospital to have his wounds and gashes treated.

Police are now on the hunt for the pit bulls.

Brown's father says that the county has a serious animal control problem.

Using bark control collar that sends electric jolt by a remote held in your hand

When the dog barks you press the button and it sends a mild shock to the dogs throat.
Is that cruel?

My friend's dog has a cut on her elbow that she's been licking incessantly. How can he stop her without resorting to using one of those cone collars? I was thinking about putting something sour or spicy on it, but he doesn't want to make the wound hurt or worse. Thanks in advance!

I'm just asking because I have a 5 week old puppy and shes doing great but it seems like older dogs would be easier to train since they are less hyper...So a personal experience ? Which was easier....training a pup or a grown dog?

I have a jack russell/unk mix 10 months old and an 1/2 american bulldog 1/2 unkown... and they go to bed around 11:00 p.m. and get up about 9:30 AM... then they play rough for an hour, eat, drink... and go back to sleep from like 11 Am to 1 PM... get up and play until about 2:00... sleep until 4... go back to seep about 5:30... play rough until around 7, get a walk, and then lay around and play a little until bedtime. This seems like too much sleeping to me. I have had them since they were both 8 weeks and this has been the pattern forever. I just thought as they got older they slept more... at this rate my dogs will ONLY sleep when they are older. :) Sorry for the long explanation... Just curious how much your dog sleeps?

My dog is 1 year old mixed breed, 60pounds, used to having free reign, and very hyper. I love him very much, but right now he cannot live with us. He is currently staying at my parents until we can buy a house where he can have a yard for him to play and run. Recently we brought him to our apartment (which we are not allowed to have pets) for a few days, which was my Christmas present from my husband (he knows that I want my dog here and not at my parents). Anyway, he knows that I am his master, and listens to me and my husband, but he get very hyper and even crys/whimpers if he has to be put into another room when I am at my parents house. He has always slept next our bed in our room (of course on my side) and when we had him over for X-mas it was like he had never stayed with my parents. Also he can't be around other dogs without barking at them, what causes this? Any advice would be appriciated.

I have a dog who constantly licks a little spot on her "wrist" and she is now devoid of hair there. There are times she gets it quite red. She's a lab/aussie mix, and I know they're prone to nerves, but this is nuts! (Or is it?)

I would love to get one, but I don't know anyhting on the breed. Do you know if they bark, are good alone, or are good with other pets.

I know it all depends on the certain dog you get but i wanted to know if anyone had some breed charateristics.

please dont send me to a dog website...I'm not an idiot.

I have a Retriever/standard poodle puppy who is growing very fast. He is now 3 mos. old and was happy eating 1 cup of dog food three times a day but he seems to be hungier. Today he was crying and we gave him more food and he just wolfed it down. How much do you suggest we feed him? Makes sense he is twice as big now we should give him two cups twice per day or so. What do you think? We feed him Iams puppy chow. He is about 20 lbs now and we expect he will grow to be 75-100 lbs.

We have a 8month old male boxer (not neutered), He is pretty house trained but he wants outside at least 1x an hour, sometimes it constant, in and out like 3-4x an hour. I am well aware he loves to be outside, my concern is that everytime he goes outside, i believe he is actually peeing. Is this normal??? He will stand at the bad door and whine until u let him out. He doesint seem to have a prob with bladder control, since he no longer pee's in his crate or in the house, but he always wants to go outside!! ANy advice??
