I have a Bulldog, her name's Gala. We got her mid-July this year, she was 10 weeks old and 12 lbs. And now she's almost 8 months old and weighs near, if not more than, 40 lbs. My dad always wanted a Bulldog, I just wanted to have a dog of my own, so it made sense.

I have a 5 month old Bichonpoo named Esperanza. I got her from a breeder in Queens NY. My landlord said I could have a small dog 10/12 pounds max full grown. The shelters didn't have small breed puppies. Most of the purebred puppies I liked were too expensive. Then I saw this beautiful puppy. Some people have dissed me for getting a designer dog but I don't regret my decision for a minute. She is the best dog in the world. So mellow and friendly. Loves everyone and so smart. Her picture is at left and on my 360.

I got my pup from the local shelter. There is a great website - www.petfinders.com - where you can see pictures and descriptions of many of the animals in shelters anywhere in the country. There are so so so many animals in shelters that need a good home, so don't get your puppy anywhere else! Also, at shelters you can find an older dog if you don't want to go through the whole potty training process. You can find a pup that is good with other animals, or has training, etc. I chose my pup because of her temperament. Be prepared, it can be very heart-wrenching at the shelters. Choose your dog based on size, breed, and what kind of temperament they have. If they are very jumpy when you walk by the shelter, then you know they jump when they get excited. Mostly though, you will have a gut feeling when you do find your pup.

I have two dogs. A poodle mix that was a stray sitting outside my doors step in the cold/rain when I got home that I took in my home and we've been together for 2 years. I was not familiar with the breed nor not that knowledgeable about what dogs required (vet bills, emergency vet bills), but I knew that I couldn't leave her outside and I just couldn't let her go to someone else. The night where I got her and she was cleaned up and on top of my bed and I was playing with her and she kept licking me for more pets, I knew that this was fate and I vowed to keep her and take care of her. I have had her for 2 years and counting.
I also have a min pin .I saw her on www.petfinder.org site and saw that she was friendly and she way very cute a chocolate color (also that she had a blue bandage on her leg from a surgery). Since I was already looking into getting a min pin @ the time I went and drove an hour to play with her and adopted her out the same time. I honestly feel in love with her @ first site when I saw her picture. It was fate.

I have had numerous dogs in the past from all kinds of places. My current dog is a shepherd/lab mix that I rescued from the local shelter. I originally went there for another dog, but most of the dogs just didn't seem comfortable with me or anyone. Very scared and I didnt want to make them feel more uncomfortable..so when I met my girl..she came to me as if I was already her owner. She just clung to me ever since. Also, her brother and her were dropped off on the side of a highway with a littler of kittens as well..I couldn't leave her at the shelter. I would have taken both dogs, but only have the space for one.
A little long, but thats my pups story.

I am proud to say mine is a rescue dog, I got him from a humane society while they were doing an adoption Saturday at a Petsmart, and the reason I got him is because everybody is looking for the "perfect" dog whereas my little Schmitty is blind in one eye from cateracs and the lense was taken off the other one to save it, has kidney and hip problems, and is 13 years old. He was in fostercare for 8 1/2 months and had all 3 strikes against him because he was so special needs and I was looking for a special needs dog to give a good and loving home to because I know how hard it is for them to find a good home.
Schmitty who is pictured says hi to all the dog lovers out in Yahoo land.

I my beagle at a shelter when I went in looking for a puppy. She's just precious. That's my Nina.
My brother got our rat terrier from a breeder he met through work. It's his dog, but since we live in the same house, I love the little guy like he was my own. His name is Captain Pete.
I didn't intend to get my basset dachshund cross, but she stared at me so hard when I went to take some food to the shelter that I ended up taking her home. I named her Sabrina, as in the Teenage Witch, because I think she cast a spell on me. :)
My big yellow mutt is part of an accidental litter a neighbor of mine had. Her mom's a yellow lab, and her dad is a mystery dog who somehow got into the yard. She gave away the puppies, and we had just lost our big black mutt, so we had a space to fill. :) Her name is Sarah.

Since you asked...I am happy to answer...
I have 4 dogs....
1) Lady - Beagle - 9 years old - rescued from someone who bred her and since he could not sell the litter he was going to take them to the pound
2) Chance - Border Collie mix - 7 years old - rescued from a neighbor who was going to have him put to sleep because he "ate the couch"
3) Sammy - Black Lab mix - 5 years old - rescued from a fishing camp. The owners had an older dog who could not tolerate the playing etc and they were going to take him to the pound
4) Breagh - purebred Border Collie - 2 years old - She id the only one we bought because we LOVE the breed and she was the only female in the litter.
They are all awesome!

I have a 6 month old golden retriever/baset hound and pug mix. And got him from a co-worker for free. It seems her pure breed pug and his dad played for a while, and the rest is history... I picked him because he was the cutest of all 5.

I got my chocolate lab from my aunt who breeds them. I rescued my other ones.
I choose a lab because they are very loving and extremly loyal. They are an active breed which fits right into my lifestyle. I love to go on long walks with them and they go running with me everyday. I take them to the lake all the time and just enjoy their company.
I love my labs!
