1. mixed ones from the shelter, they make the best pets (shepard mixes are wonderful)

2. they are in need of homes so much more than pure breds

3. either, my last baby was a girl..she was an angel

4. altered -- "fixing" an animal helps prevent them pain and saves numerous animals from being in shelters/pounds

good views, hon...maybe if more people felt like us we could get the word out there to help

1. German Shepherd/ Black Lab mix
2. My dog has the smarts of the shepherd and the cuddly and loving side of a lab. Not to mention..she is a beautiful looking dog.
3. I have no preference for gender. Males are less aggressive once neutered (in most cases), females don't spray all over the place!! I enjoy both genders equally.
4. Altered.

I hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoy the New Year!!

Bloodhounds. They are extremely loving and loyal, and are great fun to work. They also suffer from very few breed related illnesses, despite having been around since 800 AD. The breed standard reflects the conformation of a dog most able to do the job, unlike many others. Bloodhounds are beautiful, if you can get past the slobber, and have a wonderful voice. Mine is female, and plenty big enough at 90lbs, so I would probably choose a female again as the males are significantly larger. She is spayed as she is a pound dog, but if I bought another trailing dog that worked as well I might consider breeding.

1.Irish Wolfhound

2. Even temperament and the fact that they were breed back up not long ago, so there is still heterozygous advantage, without deleterious mutational build up from in-breeding.

3. Male, as is larger.

4. Altered. We have way to many unhoused dogs in this country now.

In order of the questions...
(1) Border Collie (or Border Collie mix)
(2) They are highly intellignet and very easily trainable. Both of mine (one is a purebred, one is a mix) participate in various dog sports (agility, flyball, herding) and one is a "Therapy Dog" who visits the old folks home. The younger one will soon be a certified Therapy Dog as well.
(3) Male or female....doesn't matter to me...I have 4 dogs, 2 of each...I find the males actually moe "sucky" and the females more independent and bossy but I love them all
(4) Unless you are a breeder....ALTERED....always...there is no need for them to go through urges that will or cannot be fulfilled.

3. I like female, but only because I don't like seeing dog junk (haha).
4. Altered, I don't want the mess, or the other dogs in the nieghborhood barking at our gate.

My answers:
1. Mixed - I prefer larger dogs to smaller ones
2. Prefer homeless shelter dog. But I work with a dog rescue group and see many purebreds that get tossed in shelters by uneducated adoptors. I do love purebreds - just hate puppy mills.
3. One of each - they off set each other
4. Altered - besides required by city ordinance with the exception of breeders - it helps with some behavioral problems

I have a male pit/chow chow mix and a female border collie/lab mix.

1.I have a pug.
2.Because he is so darn cute, affectionate, and funny.
3.Male
4.Altered, why give the world anymore unwanted pets.
That's my list, but truth is I have never looked for a certain breed, I go by a dogs personality. My pug was given to me by a lady whose kids stop wanting to take care of him, so now he is the spoiled pooch he is. My very first dog and I had her till she died at 13 years old, got her just after she was weaned, was a Chihuahua, dachshund and poodle mix. I fell in love with her because she was the runt and ugliest one it the litter.
