I know to get her spayed, but I can't seem to find a vet that will do a spaying with her in heat for less than 600 bucks. (That buys a lot of pampers! :) ).

All this blood is gross, how long does the bleeding itself last? What can I expect overthis time of her being in heat? I've only had boy dogs who were neutered? Do they get pregnant easy?

I have reason to believe that my 60 yr old neighbor poisoned my dog.
About a week ago he died. This is what happened.
He wouldn't get up; he was laying out in the yard. He wouldn't come when we called him. Finally my boyfriend went out there got him and brought him inside. I gave him a bath and sat him on hte couch. About five minutes later i walked back in there and there was diarhea all over. I picked him up and sat him outside. There was a trail of it on the floor all the way from the couch to the door. We went to a baby shower and when we came back, he was outside, in the back of the yard, and his eyes we open and we thought he was dead. He wasn't. Anyway, he was stiff, as if he were dead, but he was breathing and his heart was breathing. We picked him up and sat them on the porch, he was still leaking the diarhea. We stood him up and he was looking at his water bowl, looking like he wanted some. He fell over. Then about 5 hours later he was dead. If you need more info, ask.

I have an 11 month old male Siberian Husky who is very playful, jumpy, and very happy. This past weekend he hasn't been the same, he was throwing this past Sunday about 6 times. I took him to the vet to see what was wrong with him but they said he was fine. No signs of pain, fever or soreness around the stomach area. The vet gave medication for him which are Sucralfate (1gm) and Cephalexin (500mg) and said if he keeps vomiting take him back in. He hasn't since Sunday but now I am concerned about him not eating, he will drink but only a little and when I try to give him food he resists it. I tried everything, but he won't eat any food I give him. I am starting to worry about him. Is this normal? It's been 3 days and he hasn't eaten anything except the pills we have been giving him. I'm desperate! A little advice please.

My golden retriever had her first heat last April (2006) when she was a year and 1 month old and it was a very light heat (no real red blood came out, just reddish fluid). It is now almost Christmas and there is no sign of a heat. Should I be worried about my dog being infertile? How long should I wait until I suspect a problem?

I know some people say that it is ALL down to the way the dog is raised, but do any of yu believe that certain breeds are just naturally more aggressive and more likely to "turn" on a human and tear them apart? I knew a woman who got a Doberman from a rescue shelter. She treated the Dobe really really well and also treated her other dog well. She adored animals, lived for them. One day her new Doberman turned on her out of the blue and tore her to pieces. She is now dead.

What are your thoughts about Dobermans, Pits and Rottie's?

PErsonally I have a well behaved Min Pin. Even if my Pin were to go nuts and attack me, she weighs 9lbs and the worst she could probably do is bite up my ankles. Whereas if a Pit turned on me, that would likely be the end of my life.

i took him to the vet last week and they said his blood work was fine aside from a low thyroid level that they put him on medication and his urinalysis came out good as well. I hate seeing him so miserable and now the last three days he will not eat....if anyone out there has any thing to offer me in advice please do. I love this sweet boy so much and I really did not think that 11 years old was terribly old :o((((

We have a HUGE newfoundland and was told he'd need lots of room to run before we got him. Funny thing is, he's like a 150-lb lap dog that likes to be walked and we walk him every day, but when I let him outside to run and play, he does his business and runs right back to the door to be let back in. We try and play fetch with him, and he will do it a couple times and then plop at our feet. Kind of funny! Anyone else experience this or is my dog just lazy?

Next month my chihuaha and me are flying back home for a wedding and I'm afraid she's gonna get really nervous on the airplane ride. I have also heard that sometimes things happen to them. She's gonna be under the seat in front of me but I still think she's gonna get to excited and nervous acting. Is there anything I can do to keep her calm on the 5hr. plane ride?

My dog had breat (mammory gland ) cancer & after her last operation the vet said that the cancer is aggressive & would come back. For the past couple of days, my dog hasnt been able to walk properly. It's like she is drunk when trying to walk, sluggish & starts to swerve. Like she has no strength in her legs. What is wrong with her & what should I do. Do you think I should take her to vets & put her out of her misery, or leave it a couple of day & see how she gets on ?!?!

I have a nine week old American Bulldog that bites all the time. My husband and I have calmed him down a little but when he gets around my son he seems to really tear in to him. He can't even walk accross the room without the dog attacking his legs. We want this to stop before he gets any bigger and can cause harm to anyone.
