Everytime he does this you and your son too must correct him immediately, to the point of putting him in a submissive state of lying on his back. He may be a puppy now, but as he gets bigger his bites get worse and he will have no respect for anyone in your household. Make sure he is also getting plenty of exercise (not rough playing but actually walking outside the home).

Ive had dogs all my life and one of them was a confirmed biter to the end of his days. He lived till sixteen. We didnt mind as we were only adults in the house and we are crazy about dogs, biters or not. But nothing changed his temperament. If your dog is like this and you have a child about the house see what you can do by way of training and if it doesnt work try rehoming the dog. Dog personalities are as different as people personalities. Its no use doing harsh training methods if the dog itself is like this from the get go. We once asked a professional dog trainer what to do with our dog. He said he would and could get the bite out of him but we wouldnt approve of his methods. We didnt think it was right to put the dog through that just to make him behave the way we wanted him to behave. So we let him be and lived with it. But with a child around you might want to consider rehoming the dog if there is nothing that can be done.

My dog who seems to want to chew and bite always has a toy in his mouth. Luckily, he chose to put toy in his mouth and we didn't need to encourage him. He used my son as his squeeky toy!
A 9 week old puppy is still pretty small. They will nip some more for awhile. The problem is that your puppy isn't all that tiny now.
Give the puppy new things to constantly chew on. It is natural for him to want to do that.
Take him to puppy school at the age appropriate time, too. His overall discipline will improve by working with him.
I agree with the immediate and stern correction, too.

whilst your domestic dog bites you, make a severe pitched yelp. A canines does not comprehend, "Ow!!! That harm! No! undesirable boy!", so which you would be able to desire to tell them which you acquire harm by using making a severe pitche yelp. that's what he'd do if he have been given harm, ideal? Then, flow your arms and walk out of the room with out your canines. Having you contained in the room is a advantages to your canines, and you leaving is style of a punishment. quickly he will comprehend that howdy, perhaps I shouldn't try this because of the fact I lose my advantages of having her enterprise! This biting element could be a piece. He would desire to purely be teething, yet even nevertheless you would be able to desire to teach your canines that biting you isn't the answer. Leash training is incredibly common. My canines discovered it in below each week. Have your canines on your left or ideal part (I choose the left), and in simple terms initiate walking. every time he starts off roaming off, say the part you opt for him to pass to, so in my case it could be, "Left!" and SOFTLY pull him back to the place you opt for him to stroll. A you're walking, bend down and supply him a Cheerio. each walk, cut back the quantity of Cheerios you provide him, quickly none in any respect. those are the approaches that I used to coach my domestic dog and that worked, so as that's why i'm recommending them to you. i'm hoping you have luck getting your domestic dog knowledgeable! happy holidays!

You do not have to stike the puppy on the nose or roll him on his back! That scares dogs to death because that's what their enemies in the wild do, roll them on their back and go after the throat. It used to be acceptable to perform this "death roll" but no longer! All you have to do is use your thumb to press down on the dog's tongue say a firm "NO" and stop playing. They get the idea pretty quick that biting is not a form of playing. Please don't abuse your dog like these other people are suggesting because you'll get exactly what you don't want. A scared dog who lashes out (because he's scared of you) and he might just bite you or your child out of fear.

Not sure if this will work, but it worked for my black lab/retriever mix. When he was a puppy he loved to bite and chew EVERYTHING. Next time the dog bites, bop his nose (I'm not talking abusively here, just enough to catch his attention) and say very firmly "No bite." or something similar.

everytime he bites you smack him hard with a rolled up newspaper, enought were he notices that he is doing something wrong and he will eventually stop
if that doesnt work you could try closing his mouth shut every time he bites and tell her "NO" very firmly and hold him like that for a while until her wines
and if none of those work.......everytime he bites you put your finger in his mouth and at the roof of his mouth push on it for a while....this will be very anoying for him and he will hopefull stop
I sure hope one of these works for you cause it sure did for my dog

Your puppy obviously sees your child as his toy! Make sure the puppy has plenty of chew toys to satisfy his natural desire to chew. Do not hit the puppy to stop the behavior as you will create others in this way. When he begins to chew on your child, offer him something else instead!

Try thumping him or popping his nose with newspaper. If that does not work make him wear a muzzle everytime he goes to bite

When our puppy was at that stage, we yell out a firm "ouch" as way to show him that what he did was not acceptable. Then we would redirect his actions by giving something that he could chew on - his toys. When he chewed on his toys, we would praise him.
