I have reason to believe that my 60 yr old neighbor poisoned my dog.
About a week ago he died. This is what happened.
He wouldn't get up; he was laying out in the yard. He wouldn't come when we called him. Finally my boyfriend went out there got him and brought him inside. I gave him a bath and sat him on hte couch. About five minutes later i walked back in there and there was diarhea all over. I picked him up and sat him outside. There was a trail of it on the floor all the way from the couch to the door. We went to a baby shower and when we came back, he was outside, in the back of the yard, and his eyes we open and we thought he was dead. He wasn't. Anyway, he was stiff, as if he were dead, but he was breathing and his heart was breathing. We picked him up and sat them on the porch, he was still leaking the diarhea. We stood him up and he was looking at his water bowl, looking like he wanted some. He fell over. Then about 5 hours later he was dead. If you need more info, ask.

it was really late (between 6pm-11pm when all this was going on) And all the vets were closed. Half of the so called "emergency vets" or "24-hour" vets wouldn't answer the phone, and the other half said something to the effect of "it doesnt sound like an emergency to me".. so.. i couldnt take him.

And he NEVER got out of my yard, and there are no are no poisons such as rat posion, bug poison that he could have gotten to. The reason I think my neighbor did it was because last night, he went to my other neighbors house at midnight, with a rifle and was trying to shoot his dogs. He said "I'm going to kill every GD dog in the F-ing neighborhood!" because dogs bark.. buthole... and I've seen him shoot at dogs before.

Yeah, the day before all of this happened, he was happy, wagging his tail, jumping up in my lap, just being playful and happy as ever! which is why i dont think it was parvo... that takes a little longer than a day to kill a dog... So, Yes, He was perfect the day before.

I would take him to the vet, but since we dont have a yard, and nowhere to bury him, we had to put him in a dumpster... I know it sounds terrible but thats the only thing we could do with him.. So we can't have a necropsy done. :(

Those symptoms are very strange indeed. How old is your dog? Was you dog acting fine the day before, running jumping licking eating??? Answer and I'll comment.
Wow, I now agree with your first thoughts. Poison could be the culprit. I have heard of animal poisonings that cause death within a few hours or up to a day. uncontrollable diarrhea is a major indication, many times along with vomiting, weird you dog didn't vomit. Look around for green or red fluids, that might have been poured in an area you dog could get to, or for a greasy looking stain. That would be anti freeze. Look for pieces of food that are not something recognizable to you, scraps of a treat, or a bone. Call the cops and report the incident. Without a blood screening the cops will do nothing but report it, in case a second dog comes up deceased with similar issues. If you are wanting to warn other in your neighborhood about this, print out a picture of you dog and a brief bit of information explaining his death, and that you believe there is a dog murderer in the neighborhood. You do not need to include any names for safety reasons. I would do it, I'd leave the police report number and inform the police that i am giving the number out to my neighbors.

OMG, WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE HIM TO THE VETS???
That said,
Why do you think your neighbor poisoned him? Did he have bloody diarrhea? Were his gums blue? Was his abdomen bloated? Was he trying to vomit? These are some poisoning signs. Depending on what the poison was. Contact a humane society about this, they might be able to do a toxicology on him if he really was poisoned, or maybe your vet can. Did your dog bark a lot or something? Did you find any suspicious pieces of food around the yard? Our neighbor had poisoned someones horse (he's a sick SOB and he's a sex predator too, who is a puppy mill breeder too), I think he used antifreeze but I don't know. There are many things that your neighbor could have used, like chocolate, or antifreeze or other stuff. The link below can tell you about all poisoning symptoms. I am sorry for the loss of you dog. I hope your neighbor didn't poison him, but if he did I'd call the humane society and get the BUSTED! I'd call the COPS on him, saying that he wants to kill all the dogs in the neighborhood. Too much of a coincidence. Sounds like a friggin AHOLE to me.

I understand why you are suspecting your neighbor did something, but his symptoms sounds a lot like parvo and heartworm. Perhaps, if it's not to late, you could order an autopsy on your dog. If the autopsy says he was poisoned, I would go to the police and say what has been going on and perhaps they can question your neighbor about your dog. I'm so sorry about what happened.

oh my goodness, that is aweful!! i am so sorry for your loss. yes, it sounds like he was poisoned...you could get an autopsy to determine a sure cause of death, but what leads you to believe that your 60-year-old neighbor did it? if he was completely healthy beforehand, there is a very likely chance that he was poisoned, but he also could have eaten something that poisoned him in the yard. before you go pointing fingers...unless you have a real reason to believe your neighbor did it...you should stop to think about everything, and all the evidence. once again, i am so sorry...hope this helped.

I've seen a friends dog that had been poisoned, and there was no doubt in their mind. He was vomiting, messed all over himself and had white bubbly foam coming from his mouth. They had the vet do a necropsy and found that is was in fact poison.
Similarly, one of my dobes was very lethargic, projectile diarrhea and could barely hold her head up. She had eaten some rocks and sticks and had an intestinal blockage. Luckily, she was treated immediately, and made it through the ordeal.
Without you taking the dog to the vet when you found him in the condition he was in.... you'll never really know.

U cant jump to speculations unless u actually have proof.
The dog could have accidently drank antifreeze or got bit by something poison in the grass like a deadly poison snake.
Sounds like parovirus too, which if aint treated will lead to diareah and death.

I'm not sure but it sounds like it could be antifreeze poisoning. Antifreeze is sweet to the taste so animals like it and will easily eat/drink it. Without an autopsy you may never know what happened. I'm sorry for your loss. It's always difficult to lose a pet.

Wow, have your nieghbor press charges for threatening him with a gun, he can get assault with a deadly weapon. Other than that, have an autopsy peformed to determine the chemicals present in the small intestine, if your dog was piosoned, the poison is in there

Look-up smptoms of propylene glycol poisoning. That's the easiest way to poison a dog because they love the taste of the stuff and will drink a whole gallon if you let them.
