The crazy thing is that he has 24 hr access to his room that has pads/newspaper for him to use, if he is confined to this room ofcourse he uses the newspaper/pads. If we are sitting in the living room 40% of the time he will run to his room to the newspaper/pads and use them but the other 60% he goes anywhere. Why if he knows the right places to go (outside or to his room) and he always has access and he is very smart why am I having trouble? What am I doing wrong? Please help

My wife and I just purchased a home, and I'm leaving my Lab at home with my parents. We know we're getting a dog, but are arguing over what kind. I want a Boxer, because I want a larger, playful and loyal dog. She wants a Shar Pei, mostly because of how they look. I don't think she knows anything about them. I know they're quite prone to health issues (ears, eyes, kidnies), but I've heard they're also hard to train and not as playful. However, we both work during the day, so it'll be hard to give a Boxer the attention it deserves. I plan on getting either from a rescue.

I know that seems like a strange question, but we have chihuahua puppy (about 3 months old), he was doing great w/ paper training (we want to eventually get him to go outside, but it's too cold here now), but now he walks right past his paper and does his business everywhere else...I am so FRUSTRATED!!! He knows he's done something bad when he does it too, he tucks his tail and hides after he goes somewhere he's not supposed to...does anyone know why he might be doing this and what can I do to stop him? Thanks!

we have three dogs, a mini pin and two german shepherds. the female shepherd is already two years old and quite behaved, the male, a young 9 month old, is so hyper. he has been digging around the yard; eating my plants, and gnawing on everything. i tried giving him all sorts of toys to nibble but he eventually gets back to my plants. please help :-)

I have a 10 month old female pit and she started bleeding today. Me and my husband intend to breed her. Alot of my husbands friends raise and breed pits and they tell him that it is best to breed on the 2nd heat. I beg to differ though..... All my life my family and I have bred and raised chiuauas (I know SPELLING) and the only reason we would not breed on the first heat is ONLY if they were 6-8 months old, but other than that, we would let them breed and nothing bad happened. Why are theses people telling us that it is bad to breed on the first heat? If we breed her now, she will be 1yr when she delievers. I have also had people tell me she is at the perfect age to breed her. I love my dog, just as if she was my kid and I don't want anything to happen to her! Please let me know what ya'll think... Thanks!

We have a male chiuahua that we want to breed with a female chiuahua. The dog's vet said that the first time she goes in heat we have to breed her. So that he is saying that we will only get to have puppies one time. He also said you have to have to neuter her at 8 months or she will get some kind of diesease. Is all of this true????

I want to get a new dog, but I don't know what type to get. I want something medium sized, and short haired. I don't want something common like a lab or a retriver. I was thinging about a german shepard, or a doverman, but we have kids in our house along with 2 daushunds. I am sick of small dogs, I need something that I can grow attached to, but I also want something not alot of people have. Does anyone know of any breeds that sound my type?

he was fine, but now, he keeps whining. he whines at the door, and looks out the window and whines, but there is nothing there!
my dad just brought him from a walk, so he was already outside.
he went into my living room and stopped, and whined again.
why is this happening/?
im starting to get freaked out
i brought him upstairs with me and he wanted to sit on my lap. and then he was all fidgety. when i let him down, he ran down the stairs (he usually likes being upstairs now)
hes not a puppy, ive had him for almost 2 years now.
any explanations?

My female Pomeranian seems to be panting more than usual lately. She is about a year and a half, and has not been spayed yet, but she has not come in contact with any male dogs. Many times she just lays down and pants, and she constantly does it. She has been eating, drinking water, and her gums are pink, but still she just lays down and pants sometimes. She may be about to go into heat, but I am not sure because she has many other times, but this is the first time she has panted like this. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?
