all dogs were selectively bred at one point in history. The wolf is the original and the dogs we see today is the outcome. There are some breeds that were bred after mixing dog breeds though. For example, the German Shepherd Dog was actually a mixture of many German Dogs used for herding and companionship. What we see today is like the 3rd version of what the originally named German Shepherd Dog looked like. Before they looked a lot more wolfish and more grayish as opposed to how they look now. Dobermans are another breed that was a mixture of many dogs to include Greyhounds, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, and some terriers. These were bred to create the "perfect sentry/guard" dog and the results were just that, dogs that could be used as Sentry/Guard dogs. Again, this breeds temperament has changed since its inception. Most terriers are mixtures of various past dogs used for hunting and scouting vermin and insects.

Any canines that's bred for a purpose is selectively bred. this signifies that each and each parent's genotype and phenotype are heavily analyzed beforehand pups are produced. applications contain certain operating canines and conformation for canines shows. basically variety in any canines breed and that canines breed has been selectively bred. canines that are non-selectively bred are random bred. this signifies that 2 canines are bred with out regard as to the outcome and expertise of the pups.
