Females should be atleast a year old before you breed. It is best to wait until 2 years though. It can harm the dog if you breed to early. Ask your vet if you don't believe these people or me. Maybe you should research this if you don't know how to breed an animal.

She is still a puppy and she is not ready to breed and for this reason she will not make a good mother.. Do not breed her until she is at least 18 months. What is the hurry if all you are doing is breeding for greed there will be plenty of time just let her grow up first and the ppl telling you she is the perfect age for breeding are just plain ignorant.

People are mixed up - the debate about the 1st or 2nd heat is whether its better to SPAY!
Some say the 2nd heat is better as her vulva is large enough to control peeing better.
NOT BREED! There is no doubt that its wrong to breed them at this stage, just like a under 12 year old being a mother in humans!
You will have to wait till she is fully grown and her reproductive organs are mature at about 18 months.
It's important that her pelvis and body is large enough for the huge heads of this breed, and her body is ready to deal with the demands of a growing litter of pups, and not try to cope with the pups demands on her body, when she is dealing with the demands of her own body growing!!
Wait 18 months!

The people telling you to either breed her now are wrong. No female should be bred until they stop growing themselves, which happens at 2 years old.
Please don't breed her, though. If you go to your local Animal Control, where ever you live, you will find Pit after Pit after Pit that will die because nobody wants to take the responsiblity for them. Are you aware only 30% at most of all new born puppies ever find a good, permanent home?
Most of those pitties at the pound will be killed because there already aren't enough homes for them. And if your friends say they want a puppy, then they should go to the pound and adopt one that will die otherwise. If they take a puppy from you, for every puppy one dog will die at Animal Control, and you who bred your dog will be the one who killed it.

If you didn't learn anything from raising Chihuahuas, then you should not try to raise another breed or any breed. Dogs should never be bred before 18 mo. 2 yrs is better, specially with a larger breed. Check my spelling of Chihuahuas. How could you and your family breed them for so many years and not know how to spell the breed?

Leave the breeding of dogs to the experts.

I belive that you should wait for the second heat ,, the first heat is their experimental stage and remember that even though she will be over a year when her puppies are born , she is still a puppy. Stick with the theory that we dont want our babies having babies so why should we wish this on our aniaml babies,, I have found that after the second heat they seem to be a little more mature and a little more aware of the changes that are surronding her, also if their are any complications with her cycle or any thing inside this way you will have a good idea before the babys are born and there is problems. Always a good rule of thumb withany animal is tohave a vet check to make sure that every thing is alright with her, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,, and then you will know for sure that your babys will be beautiful, healthy and that your mommy will be save and sound for a very long time ,, good luck and be patient you will be a grandma when the time is right

Larger breed dogs can have more comlications with a pregnancy at a young age from what I have read. I have always found never to breed until after a year old at least because their bodies are not fully matured until after then. It's better safe then sorry. I would listen to the people that actually breed rather than friends, they will actually know more.

Since she is 10 mo old i don't see any harm in breeding her, however if you wait for the second heat, she will actually know what is going on, be more mature, and usually the first heat makes her swell which makes her body sore, so there teats and vulva are large and usually stay that way afterwards. So the 2nd time around, they aren't going to swell as much and their bodies will be more able to handle puppies. Another reason to wait is that sometimes dogs aren't full grown (adult size) and may not be ready to have a litter because there bodies haven't caught up with them.

If you truly love your dog, you will have her spayed and not purposely put more dogs on this planet. Do you have ANY idea how many dogs are euthanised every year? Why add to that population? Please do not breed your dog.
And please -- once your question has been open for a day or two, YOU are supposed to pick an answer, not let it go to voting.

Why are you breeding her at all? If you love her like you say you do then you would be having her spayed. Not only will she benefit from it medically but it also prevents more pitbulls from ending up at the shelters and being euthanized. Please don't breed her.......
