The best thing to do is bring the dog to the vet. if you won't do that right away it might get worse and you might have to spend more. And you should just give the dog a bath 3x a month, because if you bath them everyweek their losing their normal body oil and it makes their skin itchy.

You are so sweet and kind. I hope the pup makes it through. There is no treatment for Parvovirus. You just have to support the pup through the disease. Some pups survive it, some don't. That's just the way it is. What you can do is to give it enough drinking water. Don't force it though and don't feed it. The virus attacks the gastro-intestinal system destroying the cells that are in contact with food and water. Even water can be harmful but we're taking risks here. It's better to combat bacterial infection later than lose the dog to dehydration quickly. If the vet will accept it, he may administer fluids to the pup intravenously. That would solve nutrition and dehydration issues but may cost a lot. I say give it a week. That's usually the whole course of the disease. Parvo isn't harmful to humans but scabies is transferrable. If it survives, give it a couple of weeks before you go back to the vet to start treating the scabies with ivermectin. That would be the easy part.

it could be mange mites, could be a flea saliva allergy, could be a food allergy. do a good thorough flea bath or dip...check the water for fleas. if it is fleas, wait for 2 weeks and then use a monthly topical product to keep the fleas off...you'll need to use a flea bomb or other flea killer product throughout the house. if the dog keeps itching, go to the vet. they have to do a skin scraping to determine what kind of mange mite is present, and then tell you what type of product to use. do not let this go, your dog is already at the suffering point. soon there will be hair loss, and the skin will start to thicken and wrinkle. it can cause irreversible skin damage. and secondary infection from the constant scratching.
in the mean time, use sulfadene to help control the itching. you can also give benendryl or a generic of benedryl 25mg for a med sized dog, 50 mg for a large dog. make sure when you go to the vet you tell them all the products you've used and when you've used them, so they can avoid the risk of organophosphate poisoning. best of luck with this.

most of the causes for skin irritations are flea bite allergies or food.
if u have the dog on food that has corn in it change it to innova, canidae, wellness, solid gold, or california natural. these are few of the good natural dog foods. Grain in the food are the most common causes of allergies.

Buy a moistuizing shampoo and they even make a lotion for dogs, it is just dry skin if no open sores are present. Good Luck!

Don't know, but that's reason # 99 why I'm glad it's you with the dog not me. I hope you don't let it in your house, that stuff he's itching off himself ground into your carpet would be gross.
