My dog got lost last week and (after a great deal of stress and tears) I picked him up from the City Dogs Home the next day. Then last night I had to take him to the vet because he'd been coughing, was listless, off his food and had a snotty nose. She gave me some antibiotics for him and said he'd picked up "kennel cough" during his overnight stay at the Home. I know he'll be okay (still poorly today) but I would like to know more about it.

And everyone wish my Scrappy a speedy recovery!

Everyday my dog will bring a small pile of her dry dog food into our family room and leave it there. She doesn't eat it, she just drops it there-and it stays there until we pick it up. What's up with that?

8 week old puppy, weighs about 19-20 ounces. Been feeding her a tablespoon of puppy chow 4 times a day. Is this enough? She always seems hungry. I don't want to overfeed her, she seems so tiny.

Also, I want to say thanks to everyone who offered names and other puppy advice. You are all a terrific help!

I have not been around puppies since I was a kid and I need to know a few things.

First I have gotten a kiddie pool that is hard and HUGE for the momma and her babies. Now I only have a few things to ask.

1. When do there cute eyes open?
2. At what age can I give them away/sell them?

I have everything ready for when they run around. I got a outside play gate that is HUGE I got 2 of them cause there are 9 puppies in all so I didnt want to have them run different ways to where it was more work on me as well as just letting a few out at a time (not a fun thought). I have gotten canned milk in case some puppies arent getting milk since the big ones push some out of the way. SO far all is going well and I have found a great way to get the runts to eat by waking them up when the bigger puppies (who push them away) are sleeping so all the babies are healthy. That took a bit but its working and the runts have caught up in weight now and they are almost 2 weeks old.

Thank You

why do so many people think that when u chain your pitt up with a loggin chain is so cruel when actually the vet said it's ok if they have upper body strength and/ or break regualr chains. and in my own opinon i dont think its cruel if you still socailze them. and walk them or not jus have them back their chained, or use them for illegal purposes

My sister-in-law in Kent has 3 KC registered/ wormed/ golden retriever puppies left from a litter of 10. Unfortunately my brother and her are splitting up and she is running low on energy and cash for adverts - has anyone got any ideas how to find these pups a home and perhaps get some money for them to help her financial situation. I think they are now about 10 weeks old... she is at the end of her tether! Help

Given the advice from some of my other questions, I went to the PetSmart webpage to investigate certain issues for my dogs. Offhandedly I noticed a "doggy daycare", thought it a cute idea, and checked it out. Imagine my shock to find that a major pet store practices breedisim... they will not accept *any* "bully breed" or any dog that looks like a bully breed.

Now, I do not care that it is a service that I, nor any smart bully owner would probably ever *use*, they have bought into and are *promoting* the bad rap against our beloved pets! A *MAJOR* petstore, *advertising* that they refuse a service to a certain group.

PETCO, offers the same rescue/adoption services, and gives *every* dog the same chance, they must all pass an equal test.

Here, then, is the question: Do you not agree that this deserves a boycott of PetSmart?

My 9 year old dog had been falling over, i took her to the vet, he said she was having back pain/spasms. He put her on Rymadil. A few months later i came home from work and she was panting and acting very strange. i took her to the vet. She died in the waiting room. They brought her back to life. They said she had congestive heart failure, they took her off of the oxygen for a few minutes and gave her a diaretic to get rid of some of the fluid. She started to "turn blue" again...they said do you want us to "keep trying". i didnt know there were drugs for CHF that she could have lived on, so i said no. Could she have lived, and if so, how long do you think (in years). Thanks. (Very sad and i also feel guilty thinking i could have let them save her)

they sell those raised feeding dishes, but are they worth it? my dog is 24 inches tall and weighs 50 lbs. will he have less indigestion by eating from a raised dish or doesn't it matter?

We have a three year old lab who is a great dog except..I think he has an attachment disorder. When we first got him he loved everyone...he still does but he has formed some weird attachment to me. We had to put a toddler bed beside my bed because he would get in bed w/ my husband and me and try to push my husband out. If i go to the restroom he will follow me and stand outside the door. to make a long story short he never leaves myside. EVER. He will how ever let me hold the baby but he sits by my feet while I do. And for the past 2 weeks i have been passing a kidney stone and he seems to sense I am in pain and he has gotten so much worse.. refusing to go outside unless I go w/ him not eating unless i stand beside him etc... what should I do?

My Vet says my dog has a pancreas problem and he put her on ID food that you can only get at the Vet's office, it's to costly for me and I would like to put her on something else. The Vet said I could get anything that is made for a sensitive stomach. She isn't to have anything anymore, besides dog food, her treats also are to be for sensitive stomachs. There are so many out there, which do I choose? I would also like to put my other dog on the same food. I can't afford to buy two different kinds all the time. Hope someone can give me a suggestion. Don't know if this matters but, I want small bits, otherwise she throws up. She is about 75 pounds. Thank you to for helping..

We both hate the little yappy things that pee everywhere when someone walks in the door. I like medium to large dogs that are smart and athletic. I have suggested an Irish Setter or a Golden Retriever, but we are looking for the same size as those but some good ideas. Help us out please.
