Consider yourself lucky and very blessed to have a doggie companion who loves you - and your family - so much !!
Further, you have yourself a dog who not only worries about your pain, he also wants to heal you.
Dogs ( and cats ) not only sense pain, they can also "see" our pain. I have tears in my knees which often send pain all the way down to my toes. When the pain is especially bad, my dogs will lick my shins - they're trying to "heal" me. Years ago, I was at home with un-diagnosed pneumonia and I woke up to find my dog staring at me intensely - turns out my fever had gotten worse and I needed to go to the hospital. Prior to that, for 3 days, that dog wouldn't leave my side, would only take short naps and would only eat if the food was placed in front of him, beside me. Also, once after an operation, I awoke from sleep to find myself surrounded by our 3 cats and 2 dogs - they literally formed a circle around me ... a healing circle. When I have problems sleeping, my dogs won't sleep either ... they watch over me until I fall asleep.
Sweetie, you don't have a problem ... you have a blessing.

Set limits with him, you put the toddler bed in there and enabled the behavior, but besides that, dogs are instinctive, you are sick and he senses that, plus you have a baby and he senses the bond between you and the baby so he watches out for you both...he seems to love you a lot but he needs encouragement to do things without you sometimes and maybe look into some classes for yourself and the dog, you might learn a lot more about each other..Enjoy the loyalty of your protector!!! I have one sitting at my feet right now....

That is a tough question, my first instinct is that maybe your dog feels that you are sick, dogs sense this in people. I've heard of stories in which a dog kept waking up his owner like 40 times a night by licking her face, she was getting so frusterated and getting ready to give him away and she woke up one morning and he had saved her life by chewing through a medical tube that could of suffocated her, thats why he had been licking her face in the night to wake her up, something was wrong and he had been saving her life. Get checked by your doctor and give your lab a big fat bone.

it probably is just is scared. My dog is a very scared dog he will go sliding across the hard wood floor if you come around a corner and will go pee if he gets scared and hates all dogs except my other dog.He only sits with my mom and yet since we got him he has let me pet him walk him so your dog just might be scared of something and went to the one who loved him most
