My dog got her tail stuck in the door tues night. I took her to the vet on wed and the cleaned up and bandaged it and gave her antiobiotics. The problem i am having is whenever she wags her tail the bandage falls off right away. Even after the vet wrapped it it fell off as soon as we got home. Now it looks like it is starting to get infected even though i am putting neopsporn on it as instructed. They told me if this does not work we will have to have a few inches of her tail taken off. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the bandage on or any thoughts on having some of the tail removed. I think it is horrifying but the vet seems to think it would not be that bad and is fairly common. Thanks sorry so long

This isn't really a question, but did it bother anyone else? I just read an answer to the question about dogs eating chocolate. Someone answered something to the effect of "all people food is good for dogs".

I just really hope that people aren't taking all these answers seriously and that YA is just a pre-cursor to REAL research! I'm no expert, but this is common sense when you're a pet owner....right?

Come on people!

Sorry, I had to vent.

My mother's dog is blind, deaf, and weak. We don't believe that she is in any pain but she does have extremely bad labor breathing caused from kennel cough. I have been away for the past 3 year and have seen the dog every x-mas, only to see that this year it is really bad. I feel we should put her to sleep, but my mom doesn't want to. Its the only thing she has to take care of since both her kids moved away. This dog is like a daughter/son to her and we have had it for 15 years, but I feel she has done all she could want to do and has lived a VERY fulfilling life. It seems like my mother is keeping the dog alive for herself rather than for the good of the dog itself. Please help me on this decision.

My dog is having seizures and foaming at the mouth, he's had 3 today and we can't find a vets office thats open. Is he going to be o.k. and is there anything we can do to make them less frequent until tomorrow? Also after he finishes the convulsions he starts breathing really rough. Would him having all these seizures effect his general well being? Oh and another thing what causes seizures in dogs?

My dog's kidneys have failed and the past 3 days she hasn't eaten or drank anything. She's been acting weird, she hasn't barked when anyone has come to the door like she always does, she hasn't whined, and she is just laying there not doing anything. She keeps getting up and going outside where she just stands there and looks around and then lays in the snow until I end up carrying her back inside. She is 10 yrs old in human yrs. I don't know what the hell to do!

By human I mean can they think, feel and remember things like we do. I have a shitzu puppy who is 3 months & 4 days old today. A few weeks ago my grandson who is 4 years old stayed the night with us. Although none of it was intentional he was a little hard on Carrie. He hugged her a little to hard, picked her up a little to rough, he almost dropped her once plus just his actions as a 4 year old boy scared her as well. He'd squeal real loud, clapping his hands when he was around her from pure excitement.

He came to spend the night again on Tues. Carrie had been up on the bed with me, I'm doing chemo and wasn't feeling very good, in fact when he got here I was in the bathroom getting sick. The next thing I hear is her crying at the top of her lungs, running trying to get behind a pillow or something. He hadn't even touched her, just walked in the room. Could it be that she actually remembered him from his previous visit and she was scared of him or am I losing it...lol

Jayde, the two year old pittie I just adopted, has a bum eye. I knew about it going in, the vet knows all about it, but the've a 4 day weekend so I can't ask til monday (there's only one vet I can talk to, all the rest only speak Japanese!)

T-Bone, my 11 month old pittie, does insist on licking the bad eye, and I am thinking that *can't* be good for it.

Is it something to worry about?

If it is, how do I keep him off it without crating them?
