Actually, anything you give a pup to new on one can be dangerous.
However, you can give them to her, as long as you keep an eye on her and make sure she doest rip off a piece that she can choke on. I'm sure that she will no love chewing it. I don't see any reason to wait a week or two. As long as she has teeth, she can chew.

I see you have alot of replies saying no .I have had several dogs all my life .Yes you can give them rawhide to chew on .Thats why they make it .I have found that dogs if they can, will eat it and it wont hurt them .Dogs are carnivors with K-9 teeth .They are not like children that choke easily on things .I have never seen a dog choke to death from swallowing something. The biggest problem you will probably have is getting them to chew on it when you buy it and its hard .The best thing to do is when you buy it put it in a pan of boiling water with some bacon grease or beef bullion anything to flavor it ,this will make it soft and more pliable so you can unfold it .You will find your dog will like it much better being soft than hard and stiff ,the way it from the store .It will save on alot of things you dont want chewed up around your house

well - he must be wanting to chew... I am guessing that is why you ask.
I have found the rawhide to be NOT very interesting to a pup. almost too hard for them to get started (softened) and they tend to not want to be bothered after a bit.
I would be more worried about giving it to a large breed dog - because they want to swallow it in large softened pieces. (it does not digest - blockages have occurred, rarely)
I do not worry about that with a small dog tho -
I would take one chew and soften one end of it. Think hot tea. Boil water - pour it in a cup (less than halfway) and stick in the chew. I would think about the time the water is cooling the chew will be softened - you can make it a bit more enticing with beef stock or a little bacon grease. careful with the grease - only a little. check the temperature of the chew - and see how he likes it.
one note - the marrow bones are good too - BUT - I strongly suggest you re-roast to ensure no bacteria. unwrap - and then wrap in foil. bake in 200 degree oven for 10 minutes then turn off oven and leave there until cool.
Best luck with your pup!

If I give my dogs or pups rawhide bones, I give them the large ones so it isn't that easy to pull it apart and they get the teething action but with anything, any toy or rawhide is supervised, when it gets to the point that they are going to break off pieces, it goes in the garbage. This way they get to use it for teething etc but don't actually get to eat it. a small dog a medium/large bone

If your puppy has teeth, it will appreciate small rawhide bones to chew on. It will also prevent it from finding other, less desirable or appropriate, things to chew on. Just make sure it does not try to swallow the whole thing before it's really gushy and soft, it could choke on it, but that's true no matter how old the dog.

NO!! They are bad for puppies especially ones as small as pomeranians. The raw hide can swell in their stomach and make them very sick. My 4 month old pomeranian is not allowed to have them! I recommend getting a puppy kong and putting puppy ziggies in it or an everlasting treatball with the everlasting treat. My pom loves both of them. Nylabone also has edible bones that he loves. Just make sure not to give to many it can upset their tummy.

No, rawhide bones can be very dangerous. You'd be better off buying bully sticks. They don't splinter or have big pieces coming off of them that your dog could choke on, or tear his insides, or cause a blockage. Especially with a puppy, you'll want to watch him while he eats anything.

Make it something that can't be swallowed, if he chews it to a small size then take it away and throw it out.
Also, here are some better options.
Pig ears
Nylabones
Nylabones edibles
Iams tartar chews (they kind of look like a funny toothbrush and I found them next to their food, not in the treat aisle. But my puppies and dogs love all of these things.

I don't give my adult dogs rawhide. They can get a piece stuck on a tooth or get one lodged in their throat and choke on it. Nylabone chew stick are great for all dogs. Some are even edible and good for dogs' teeth.

i wouldn't really suggest it. i have a 6 year old rottrieler and i have never gave him rawhide bones...once i asked a vet if i should and they said it wasn't that good for them...i would recomend giving your dog real bones that you can buy from the pet store and take off all the chips of bone and meat off of it. so then your dog won't choke
