All people food is good for dogs? WTF?

Question

This isn't really a question, but did it bother anyone else? I just read an answer to the question about dogs eating chocolate. Someone answered something to the effect of "all people food is good for dogs".

I just really hope that people aren't taking all these answers seriously and that YA is just a pre-cursor to REAL research! I'm no expert, but this is common sense when you're a pet owner....right?

Yes, most of the answers on here bother me. It's incredible to me that people can own a pet and know nothing about them. It makes me really sad to know people will just feed their dogs anything and risk their health. Common sense is not so common anymore I'm afraid.

Venting is good! I actually read an answer on what to do about a Boxer that was having seizures once that said to give it antifreeze, as that would cure it.???!!!

As for the 'bad answers' to serious questions: Some people think they are being funny without realizing how dangerous their answers can be, some people want to help & really don't know any better (ignorance may be bliss, but don't try to pass ignorance on as advice!), and some just want to believe they know more than they actually do.

Not turning into a cat LOL Apparently this is pretty common--cat food is stinkier usually (fishy)--maybe that is why dogs like it. But my dog LOVES the cat food and so do my daughter's dogs. A solution is to put the cat food up high where the dog can't get to it but the cat can. This way, the dog will eat his food when he gets hungry--he might prefer the cat food, but he will eat his if he HAS to. :)

Yeah I agree with you, it's ridiculous someone would actually say people food is good for dogs. I really hope not everyone listens to everything people write on here because although most people are genuinely trying to be informative & helpful, there are some who write really terrible untrue things.

I've seen people letting their dogs drink Coke. I've talked to experts in the field of Agility who had no idea that their dogs shouldn't drink coffee or eat onions. I'm with you - I also don't understand how people can take on the responsibility of pet ownership and not be aware.

Yes I know, there seem to be alot of stupid people on here answering questions and I hope people don't take their advice. I can't beleive some of the answers I see. Some people should not be answering if they have no idea what they are talking about.

Dogs will eat almost anything.However,we are their masters in the domestic realm.Avoid greasy food.Chocolate is deadly and onions can cause kidney and liver problems.You are correct in venting if you love animals.Animal owners should go to avma site,spca or call their local vet if they wish to keep their animal companions living for a long time.

I totally agree with you, it's frightening that these people own animals they have no idea how to look after. I just hope and pray they don't have children

that not good your going to have a dead dog on your hands if you feed them chocolate. Not all people food is good for dogs. I little turkey ( not the skin) is not going to hurt but if your going to give him the mash potates and gravy i would think twice.

peapole food is not good for dogs epchly chococalate it is like poison to any animal NEVER GIVER ANY KIND OFCHOCALATE IT CAN KILL THEM AND IF YOU GET CAGHT FEEDING ITTO THEM IT CAN BE CONCERTERED ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!
