After he's been sleep for an hour or so he starts "jumping" in his sleep and starts whinning. Why do they do that? I understand that it may be just that he's body is at complete rest but is there anything besides that?

I own several dogs and have lots of experience with the animal however, I am not a vet. I was a nurse before my illness but, I dont even try to diagnose my own dogs. I know it can be expensive but, please people....You claim to love these animals yet you place their well being in the opinions of others on line?? Why is this page anything other than a way to talk about our dogs? Shouldnt these questions be more about the discussions we had with our vets after they have been seen?

Because we're payin $40 a month for Royal Canin, when I heard some better quality dog food is out there for cheaper! Is that true? If so, then what are some high quality brands of dog food, that isn't uncommon and can be found at my local Petco/Petsmart?

My mother in-law was trying to be kind to my puppy, and when I was not present, had given her a turkey leg to chew on. She did not know the dangers of giving a dog turkey bones. My sister had lost her beagle when she got into a turkey carcus. The bones had spintered and pierced her intestine.
After I found Coco crunching on the turkey bone, I immediately picked up what was left and called the vet. They said to watch for vometing, dirrareah, loss of appitite. She did throw up this morning, but otherwise seems to be acting ok. I just started a new job last week, and couldn't really call in right away! I am the only one here today, everyone else is on vacation (I work in a small 4 person office)....so, I brought Coco in the office with me to keep an eye on her. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THE SAME? I will take her immediately to the vet, job or no job if anymore symptoms show.

Yesterday I found a dog. It looks like a Border Collie with no tail. She looks healthy and well groomed. We haven't found the owner. She won't eat dog food. She will only eat turkey. She won't drink or go to the bathroom either. Is something wrong with her?

I was talking to a friend the other day who said her dog kept whimpering in its sleep. It turned out the dog actually slept in the bed with her and her husband! Is this not the most disgusting thing to do with a dog? How unhygenic, I thought that having the dogs litter tray in the kitchen was obscene, but sleeping with a dog? I just can't get over it.
