Even if she can't hear you can teach her sign language. OK stop laughing! If you check it out you will find that Shepard's use hand signals when their dogs herd sheep. Hunters also use hand signals to direct their dogs toward a kill. Lots of dog trainers suggest using a hand signal in addition to a verbal command. And you have your other dogs to call so she can see the hand movement at the same time.

It can be difficult to tell if a dog can hear or not. Due to the dogs jaw line it is sensitive to vibration and can react as if to sound. The facial structure carries vibration to the other facial nerves. Only by getting the dog tested will you know if it has poor hearing, proper abilities or none at all.

i would do this...go behind her head and body and talk do a shhhhhhhhh sound..if she looks in your direction you know she can hear...also go into anothier room and call her and if she comes to you she can hear...been through this before with my cat and sure enough it worked..only use your voice though do not have any treats in your hand for this..good luck! do not bang pots will your dog is sleeping or awake!!!! this will only cause nervousness in the dog whether she can hear or not! also clapping is a form of disaplin and the dog did not do anything wrong right? if all else fails bring the dog to the vet and they can preform a series of hearing tests.

rattle or squeak a toy out of your dogs view, and watch the dogs reaction.if u bang something very loudly it may hear, because its partially deaf, start with small noises and work your way up with louder noises ie:toy, rattle metal leash, whistle, clap, tap a fork on a plate. This will give u some indication of the level of hearing your dog has .good luck!

Stand behind her where she can't see you and make a VERY loud noise (Bang a spoon on a pot even). If she doesn't jump or turn around or budge, chances are she can't hear you.

Since you just got her, you should also have her checked by your vet - Especially since she has sores & stuff.

I would do what everyone else has suggested, and then go to a vet to have her tested, to be sure 100% either way.
