She is almost to point of taking him to the shelter. And we all know if that happens he is a goner, especially because he is a Pit.

Any suggestions?

Personally, I think it is separation anxiety. I took my two border collies over there for a play date and needless to say, they did not get alone.

She leaves him home alone a lot in the house. He is a jumper and although I have suggested one of those aerial leashes, she insists it won't work.

If I could I would take the dog, but I have two border collies and as I mentioned before, the three dogs do not get alone.

I would have to think that the dog feels neglected. I know that sounds stupid to some people but dogs really do have childish feelings. If the dog is picking the bed specifically to pee on then it realizes the importance of the bed being clean. Dogs are by no means stupid and they, much like children, will get attention even by force if need be.

Now if you really want to go overboard you could try to suggest some socialization for the dog. Meaning interaction with other people and if the dog is well behaved otherwise, maybe even interaction with other dogs.

BTW, be ready for your sister to look at you funny if you speak of this response. I would suggest you apply the response rather than discuss it unless she is a very understanding person

this is how a dog marks his territory..also seeming he is doing this on yours and your children's beds its a form of ownership..your scents on your bed is the strongest and your dog wants to over power them by mixing in his scent..he also thinks hey these people leave their scents every where maybe i should put in some of mine because we are a family LOL!..he will repeat this habit if the smell isn't completely gone..i suggest going to your local pet store and buying a bottle of natures miracle it removes all scents completely and discourages the pet to mark the source again! i wish lots of luck also is the dog fixed? if not that might very well be the biggest issue!! stress could be to..i would see a vet if it persists..
i just think i should add this also..i do not have dogs but i do have 6 cats, all who have taken turns at 1 time or anothier urinating and spraying throught my whole entire home!! this caused much frustration and many tears of anger..every morning i would wake up to see my home devistated by piss!!! my house smelt HORRIFYING!!! i didnt know what to do! but we got through it togathier and i never once gave up hope on them i love them so much and yeah they do naughty things but hey doesnt my daughter too? YES!! and if she was taking her diaper off and peeing and pooping all over my home would i give up on her? would i give her away? NO!! i would teach her and be patient..now a dog is much more smarter then a cat..so if my cats learned the dog can..but in my case all the was needed was neutering..there has been only 2 accedints since and its been 7 months now! im not saying your sisters dog should be equal to her children, but when you love your animals love is love and its unconditional or it should be right?

If he just started doing this, it could be that he's sick. If he's not fixed, he could also be marking his territory.

Please don't take him to the shelter, like you said, he'll be a goner because of his breed- If that's the only place he's doing it, then why not keep the bedroom doors closed, or fence the doorways off with a child gate?

1. Crate train.
2. Keep her room and kids' rooms closed.
3. Do basic obedience training.
4. Get the dog neutered, which will help with marking.
5. Get a product like Pet Force from http://www.frrco.com/121668 that will clean up the smell and mess and keep the dog from redoing it in the same places.

Make sure the dog is taken out every couple of hours to relieve himself.

She needs to limit his space when she isn't at home. Maybe keep him in the washroom or bathroom. Does she have a way to put him on a tiedown outside when she's gone? She may also try to give him a benedryl or go to the vet and ask for Acepromethazine to give him when she's gone. Also she may try leaving for shorter periods and coming home, checking things out and then really praising him for not acting out while she's gone. Good Luck

he's marking. Is he getting enough attenion is there another dog in the house. Mine did this it took time to break him. Not only did he do it on my bed he did it on me. I used a potty pad, get them at petsmart, and a housebreaking aid made him think another dog had mark there and so did he and stop marking my bed.
