Small shorthaired dogs sometimes get sores on their ears if they are under some kind of stress. The sores go away but can leave a tiny bald spot.

If there is a lot of discharge coming from her ears, and sores around and in them, it's probably ear mites.

The vet can give you drops to get rid of them

My dog had the same problem, whenever we would rub her ears she would squeal, put since we figured that she was half poodle, she had a lot of hair in her ear and it got infected. We just took her to the vet, and got ear drops in a couple days she was better.

It may be an animal infection or a bad case of ticks but in either situation i would take the dog to the vet to have it looked at if it's very serious.

EVERY YEAR ABOUT THIS TIME MY DOG GETS SORES ON THE TIPS OF HER EARS. THERE IS USUALLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF BLOOD . I HAVE NOTICE THAT AROUND THIS TIME THER ARE ALOT OF BITTING FLIES, THAT ALSO HAVE BITTEN ME. ITS MORE OF A BITE THAN A MOSQUITO, BUT NOT AS PAINFUL AS A BEE. I PUT A BIG BLOP OF VICKS ON THE TIPS OF HER EARS AND THIS WORKED! THE FLIES HATE IT. IF THE DOG HAS AN INFECTION, YOU WOULD PUT SOME ANTIBIOTIC CREAM ON THE BITES FIRST.

That's not very specific at all.. if she is scratching she could have ear mites.
If there are still flies out where you live and she stays outside, the flies could actually be eating her ears (usually happens at the tips of the ears)

On or in?? On, could be "hot spots, fleas and/or ticks or even an allergy to something. In, could be fleas/ticks/mites yeast or allergies. In either case take her to a vet. They will know what to do and give you something for whatever it is.

This could be from food allergies, or from bug bites.

You need to get him checked at the vet.

If it is allergies, attempt to change his food to something non-allergic, like the foods at http://www.frrco.com/121668 before doing medications which are very costly.

It could be something as simple as changing to their Fish and Chips or Lamb formula.

Are you sure they aren't ticks? Those ticks have to go if that's what they are.
