The Kennel Club website has a Puppy Register so you might be able to find one near to you on there ... the site also gives advice on where not to buy a puppy too.

Another place that you could try is the Champdogs site - it lists clubs, breeders & puppies - the list of breeders shows the area & I think that the puppies list can be identified by area too. I think that this site is used by breeders who also show their dogs.

Another site to try is the ePupz one. You'll have to register to get the contact information (registration is free & you can get emails sent to you when ads are placed that match your criteria). It's searchable by area

I don't know quite how you tell whether or not they are good breeders though ... except by word of mouth & that is not always possible. This site gives some advice - espeically about avoiding puppy farmers.

However, do make sure that you'll be able to see the mum & that her temperament is good. Also make sure that the pups look healthy, clean bottoms & ears, no fleas & not too big a pot belly. I'd also recommend not to chose the one that rushes up to you straight away as it might grow into a dominant alpha dog & also avoid the little one who hides in the corner as he could grow up to be nervous or worst, nervous agressive - the sort most likely to bite when frightened. Instead chose the little one that susses you out first before charging up to cover you in licks.

The other suggestion is that, if you see someone walking a Rottie in your area, stop them & have a chat ... most dog owners are very happy to talk about their dogs ... they may be able to give you good advice about breeders etc.

Good luck, hope you find a good breeder & a lovely puppy.

If you are a first time "Rottie" owner I suggest you do a little research before you commit to a purchase. One thing that worries me about your question is the fact you are concerned about price.A registered Rot with papers will sell for $800 to $5000 depending on ancestry & whether you want a show dog or a pet.Beware of backyard breeders whose prices vary from below the $800 mark.Rotties are'nt for everyone & can be alloof & dominant with unexperienced owners. When properly trained & socialized theres no better dog on the planet.I have three of them.

You will have to pay the price that they cost I'm afraid. If you are looking for a cheap one you may find one unregistered. However pay the extra and make sure it is froom a reputable breeder who tests the adult breeding stock for hip displaysia at least since buying from untested stock will cost £2000 to get poor hips repaired.
You can go to the kennel club website and look to see if breeders in your area have pups, or try looking in the dog papers like dog world or our dogs at WH Smith.

If you open your horizon to Rottweiler mixes and adult dogs....you can find many wonderful Rotties in local shelters.
