Well here is a few things I have learned.

1. make sure your using a great hypo-allergy soap with flea protection that is also mild for the dog.

2. We also make sure the water is not to hot for the dog(s) as well (note we do wash them one at a time and that is for you people who bash on the way others talk)Try different Temps so you know what he/she likes.

3. Try different ways to make the job easy for your dog(s). Like using a detachable shower head or even a plastic cup will do as well.

4. Never keep the bathtub water running it will just stress out your dog. Fill the tub about 1/3 up your dogs legs. If you are using a detachable shower head make sure you turn the nob on the shower head off when you go to wash your dog it will help with the spray up or bitting of the shower head (remember in a tub water is EVIL to the dog so look at your dogs face and see if he/she is scared). Note that some dogs like just soft spray but mine like the massage for some odd reason.

5. Dont get water in the ears or on the face with the shower head or cup of water. Always use your hands by cuping the water and rubbing the area. Cause this can stress your dog as well.

6. If you are doing this in a Tub with no shower DOORS then I suggest you get some put in. If its in a regular shower that has space I am sorry your going to have problems. The Bigger the space the more the dog wants to get out, the tighter the space the dog knows that he/she cant get out. Remember to have enough room so you and the dog are not in to much of a tight of an area.

7. Final thing that is a must have for dogs and it works too. GO to Petsmart and get a spray called Spa. Its by Groomax and trust me it will get rid of that nasty wet dog smell I have Vanilla Breeze. Read the back of the bottle it has a warning on getting it in the eyes. I also have some other things by Spa that I love and use. It is safe for dogs to lick there body after you put this on and you can use it Between baths as well.

Well good luck and remember that a bath for your dog should not be a bad experence for you or him but it can get a bit tiring on you so have fun.

Contrary to popular opinion, bathing a dog is not one of the best ways to clean them. Shampoos vary in strength and irritability to skin, eyes and ears and can do more harm than good for our dog's coats.
If your dog makes "trouble" it is most likely because he does not like the bathing process for any number of reasons.
Try taking a slightly damp towel (a microfiber towel is great for this!) and rub the dog's coat briskly and thoroughly. This loosens alot of dirt and grime. Once the dog is dry, brush his coat from nose to tail, not forgetting the tummy and legs (which pick up most of the dirt anyways) in the process. This type of cleaning is effective (unless your dog swam in a stinky pond or something) and it also builds the bond between you and your dog. Grooming your dog is a "dominant" act and your dog will learn to submit with pleasure to a daily grooming routine.
The bathing can then be limited to once every 3 months, unless your dog really starts to smell.
This should help your "troublesome" dog!
