There is no instant remedy for her. Grief is a process that has to run its course. Just show her your genuine sympathy and listen to what she says and respond accordingly. If you want to go above and beyond, send some flowers to her house. It wont really cheer them up, but it will show you are thinking of her/them(the family).
PS! Please DONT buy her a new dog as many here are suggesting!! She needs time to grieve! Having a new puppy is alot of work, she doesnt need that right now! Trust me! She needs time to sort out her feelings and potty training a pup is the last thing she needs!

There is no way buying a new dog is going to let her forget about the one that dies, because if she was very close to it, it would not fill the gap just like that.
If you have pets, let her stay at your house with them, because she may feel a bit lonely if sometimes she is on her own instead of with her dog.
If you do decide to get her another dog, or she gets one, careful not to get one that looks too similar, it may stir up bottled up feelings about the past dog.
(I'm presuming she is less than 12 here - sorry if otherwise) Let her sit on your knee and have a Little sulk, (or her mama's knee of she is uncomfortable) and tell her that the dog has gone to a better place. She will eventually get over it and look fondly back on the dog, but you have to give it time.
Check with her mum of dad if she blames you at all, you do not want to start a bad relationship with her - ask her parents to talk to her.
Although I said don't buy a new dog, a little furry floppy toy dog to hug at night is great - it will make her feel better and if she feels sad about this, it is much better to let the tears rune for a couple of days, than make the kid [or adult :) ] be brave and bottle up her feelings.

nicely, my ultimate chum lives in a foreign country yet my doggy died 2 weeks in the past and that i became surely shattered. i in my view wish I had somebody who i will have talked to. purely be somebody who she would have the capacity to talk to, tell her which you're sorry for her loss, and then hear to what she has to assert. maybe make her a card or something to assert how sorry you're? there is somewhat no longer that plenty you could desire to do otherwise yet wait. before everything I purely cried for 3 days promptly, as I neglected him plenty. do no longer ask her approximately what occurred till you experience that she is waiting for those products, as being asked stuff made be burst into tears. wait and notice. I wish her nicely. xx
