why do so many people think that when u chain your pitt up with a loggin chain is so cruel when actually the vet said it's ok if they have upper body strength and/ or break regualr chains. and in my own opinon i dont think its cruel if you still socailze them. and walk them or not jus have them back their chained, or use them for illegal purposes

its only creul because people LEAVE them on the chain and then they neglect them and then the chain gets embedded in their necks and its just horrible.

but if you're just using the chain as a leash thats one thing cause yes dogs pull hard, they pull REALLY hard, but if you train your dog correctly, a regular collar and leash works perfectly fine (and i know this because of the dozens of pitts that come to the local dog park and they all get along perfectly fine in their normal collars and leashes.

Can't you keep them in a fenced yard? I don't know what a loggin chain is, but I guess if you're worried about them getting out of a fenced area and attacking someone or something, then I guess it's probably a good idea. As long as they're not left on it too long and it can't hurt them...and you're giving them attention and long walks, I don't really see a problem.

Probably because some people DO abuse the chain leashing. Dogs need cover at all times to get out of sun, rain, snow, etc. Dogs need exercise, and if the leash is short, they can't do that. If you need to chain him/her, try to set up a run. Also, some people will not leave water out for them and if caught, your dog WILL be taken for that very reason!
I prefer not to chain my dogs AT all. They stay in the house, and do have a fence yard to run in. Water is available at ALL times. It is never dry since I use a 4 gallon bucket.

Well, it *looks* horrible, but I may be reduced to that. My pitties jump, climb, and dig around my fence (did you know a pittie can climb a freaking tree?) and have broken every chain/ tether they've been on, my male even chewed through a wire cable!

It just *looks* so awful!

There's nothing wrong with it as long as your dog is not out there 24/7.In the publics eye it looks horrible ,the dog can look very mistreated. The public assumes things with out finding out the facts. I personally keep both of my Pittys in as house dogs , and they can both go out when they want to , and come in as they please.
