Is there a difference between a Chinese Pug and a regular Pug?

2006-11-28 12:52:19 · 8 answers · asked by Anonymous

A REAL dog, a opposed to the "dogs" we have now. I want a dog who will PROTECT me, not just lie down and befriend anyone who might break in. (aka Border Collies). SO. How to integrate a proper dog into a household with wimpy dogs, and feisty cats? A bit of help, please?

my boxer is extremly stubborn and spoiled. he is 1 1/2 years old and has never been to obiedience school. he has worked with one trainer but it was not sccessful at all.
i need a type of training that will toughen him up(he acts like and is currently treated like a huge suck) and improve his obiedence and willingness to co-operate.
can you suggest anything?
any input is appreciated.
thanks

My dogs do not like black people. I don't know why this is, and it is not in my head. I got them when they were about 3 months old. They are 8 months old now, and they do not like my boyfriend one bit! He is black. He has never mistreated the dogs at all.

Also - I had a stove and fridge delivered, and the delivery guys were black. The dogs went crazy.

Also - I took the dogs with me running errands; had to stop at a stop light. A couple of black people crossed the road behind the car and the dogs went crazy.

They are territorial but always settle down when I tell them to, but they will not settle down around black people. They are used to my boyfriend because he comes around a lot, but they still seem to hate him. He thinks it is the color - and says he knows of someone's Dobermans that do not like white people. I have never heard of racist dogs!

She ate poorly during gestation. This is her first litter-none of the pups had hair on them. We were going to start raising pups on the side but this being our first litter is very discouraging. Sadie never went through the "normal" pre-whelping stages of nesting/pacing etc. If there are other breeders out there, is this enough of an indicator not to re-breed? Please help/advise.

Sometimes when I walk my dog, he sees a cat and lunges toward it. I could pull him back, and I tell him "NO!" but he just doesn't listen! He's broken the most powerful leashes (even chain!) and I just don't know what to resort to. When he chases the cat around the neighborhood, he decides that I'm playing tag with him, and runs away from me. Also, when I open the front door, 80% of the time he won't run out, unless he has an advantage to the opportunity, like an open door for 30 seconds, if he's too close to the door, etc. Please don't say I'm a lazy person at training, or I didn't train him well enough, because he is a perfectly well mannered dog at home. He listens to sit 100% and lie down 100% and stay 90% of the time, but he just doesn't listen when he thinks we're playing tag! He knows many tricks, but he just lunges and pulls on walks, and runs all around the neighborhood if he breaks the leash, or if I let go because he's dragging me across the ground.
