My dogs do not like black people. I don't know why this is, and it is not in my head. I got them when they were about 3 months old. They are 8 months old now, and they do not like my boyfriend one bit! He is black. He has never mistreated the dogs at all.
Also - I had a stove and fridge delivered, and the delivery guys were black. The dogs went crazy.
Also - I took the dogs with me running errands; had to stop at a stop light. A couple of black people crossed the road behind the car and the dogs went crazy.
They are territorial but always settle down when I tell them to, but they will not settle down around black people. They are used to my boyfriend because he comes around a lot, but they still seem to hate him. He thinks it is the color - and says he knows of someone's Dobermans that do not like white people. I have never heard of racist dogs!

I'm not sure if it matters but they are Chows, both female from the same litter.

Dogs are suspicious of things they were not socialized to as a puppy.
Puppies that were only socialized with one race of people will look at other races with suspicion.
Dogs socialized with all types of people, meaning not only races, but men, women, children, young, old, handicapped, fit, heavy, etc will be well rounded and not have these problems.

My oldest chi had a problem with skin color at one time. He didn't like black people and white men. I assumed he didn't like the men because dh is brown not black or white. The women.... well who knows. As a puppy I handed him to our apartment manager who was a black woman (who I liked and had talked before). He immediately started struggling, something he'd never done before.
However, we kept bringing him out and not letting him get away with it and today he is pretty friendly with most people. The only remaining hang up he has is hats. He doesn't trust people in hats.
Just keep working with them and they should get better.
BTW there is no abuse history in this dog by any group of people or from people with hats. I should know. I raised him from birth so nothing happened to him that I am not aware of.

I have heard of that before although it's not because the dog(s) are racist it is because the people look different or possibly the dog(s) remembers a bad experience regarding a black person.
It's generally the same thing with a dog that fears men, or a dog that fears the vet, etc. Your dogs just tend to be aggressive towards things that they fear whereas some dogs are submissive and timid.

good question - i read over answersa because i was curious as to why that was - the socialization thing is the key. My dogs are never around men or children. ACtually, it's really me and my mom. When men or children come around THEY GO CRAZY. there is no stopping them. When women come by, it takes them a little while to calm down, but they eventually do.

Missbcjones is most likely to be right: Your puppies were probably abused by a black person during the 3 months before you got them.

It depends on who was raising them during the 3 months of their lives. Some dogs don't like men in baseball caps because their previous owner wore a baseball cap and abused them. So it depends on their background. You usually see this common in rescue dogs. A black person tramuatized them at some point

whilst canines are no longer uncovered to different species of animals and races of folk as domestic canines, they in lots of cases will regard the 'alien' race or species as a probability and react as you have defined. the terrific factor to do is enlist your acquaintances help in getting your dogs used to her. positioned the dogs on a leash and on the different side of a exhibit door out of your buddy. (previously you do this, make certain your dogs is conscious the thank you to take a seat down on command and could reliably do this. positioned the dogs in take a seat previously your buddy comes into view on the different side of the door. reward him with treats and compliment for final in take a seat and not barking. don't have your buddy suggestions-set the door this accepted time, only be seen on the different side. the subsequent time you attempt this, have her circulate a sprint closer. returned, reward him for staying seated and not barking. progressively over countless classes circulate her closer and closer until he can sniff her hand in the time of the exhibit door. Then eliminate the exhibit and repeat the technique. it may take a protracted time to get him to the place she would be able to touch him and feed him treats. it is noted as conditioning. If the dogs gets up and starts off to bark, say NO firmly and tell him to take a seat down and instruct him the cope with. whilst he sits, compliment him and supply him the cope with. sturdy luck!
